Market Bots
-
@Pigsooie-Nation_MLBTS Ive been at that point since the game dropped
-
This issue has been getting incrementally worse for at least 3 years now, it's nice SDS acknowledged it but I don't have high hopes of a quick solution.
-
@Wolfski0412_PSN they cant even fix the game from freezing while managing our team.
Just incredible
-
Any updates? This issue has existed since launch and in prior versions of the game. It is not difficult to identify the bots, so I'm not sure why they continue to be around if you're aware of the issue
-
@aaronjw76_MLBTS I think the only way they can really do to stop the bots is to stop doing the companion app and market transactions on the website. It might only be solved by having transactions taking place on the console only.
-
@manu__sds_mlbts @sds_joek_psn bots are back on the market.
Yesterday there were zero instances of bots manipulating the market with the app being down for most users. Now its back up and the bot activity is back. Coincidence?
Should be an easy signal as to what the problem is and how they are able to operate. Might be time to take the app offline until you can implement better controls to prevent abusive behavior. They are clearly smarter than the SDS devs, assuming SDS actually cares about a healthy free flowing market like has been claimed.

Only reason it coincides with the app being down is because the people who create them use emulators, - I’d assume more android - that access the app.

Yes. I'm aware.

Just restrict market access on the companion app until you can get a proper control. At the end of the day, SDS is losing stub sales to third party markets as these bots accumulate millions of stubs every day. There are a variety of reasons they should be very incentivized to stop the bots...
-
@SiberiaTigerCub_PSN I think they could easily review the accounts that are making a disproportionate amount of stubs and examining their transactions. If something seems afoot instant permanent ban from game with no appeal process should fix the the issue pretty quick.

Nah im fine with the appeals process. Someone who is legit and not breaking TOS will have no issues demonstrating compliance. People running bots? It will be crickets.
-
@aaronjw76_PSN Agreed here. I do wonder how, if true, people were given time outs for suspicious activity if they weren't actually using a bot. There have to be some cases of bots making 10-15 bids a second across dozens of cards...and then there are humans doing an order maybe every 5-10 seconds at best if they are really really fast. Bot activity is unmistakeable.
-
I was flipping about an hour and a half ago. I got restricted. There is no way I could be mistaken for a bot. I flip a lot when I am at work. I usually buy in the morning and sell in the afternoon. I have about 150,000 tied up right now and I am watching my margins disapear and there is nothing I can do about it. Hopefully I can sell on the console when I get home later. I play sometimes at lunch. But most of the time I play in the evenings after I get home. I am not very fast at flipping. Yet I am restricted. I turned in a ticket.
-
@theBlindRhino_PSN I don't agree with instant permabans. Too many tech companies do that with no appeal process, and what happens is you end up catching innocent people in the net. That's exactly what has happened to me. I'm banned, and all I've done is flipping a few hundred silver cards for 30 stubs profit a pop. I have a 41K stub balance for pete's sake, and got banned?
-
@aaronjw76_PSN Bingo, you nailed it. The bot accounts are just going to go radio silent. Whereas I have a whooping 41K stubs, but got detected as being a bot account, because I've flipped a a fair number of silver cards? Not to mention I have account history going back over a decade. They shouldn't cast a net that catches innocent people.
-
@Wolfski0412_PSN I have 2 cell phones. One I use to refresh the market price on a card, and the second phone I have waiting on the buy the card screen, and can put in a buy order a second after a price changes. I'm not using bots and doing that manually, but I guess they detected that as bot like.
-
@revjlt1_XBL Best of luck to you. I submitted a ticket and they told me they couldn't tell me a reason for the ban, but that it would stick and there was no option to appeal. I hate tech companies that have ZERO transparency or margin for a human to review.

This is likely what got you. I remember people
Who used multiple browsers also got banned in the past. Did SDS tell you that you’re banned? -
Sorry to hear their response to you. I was flipping bronzes and commons for around 30-50 stubb profit. I still haven't heard anything.
-
@theBlindRhino_PSN The response I got from my ticket was they couldn't go into details about it, but the restriction would remain with no appeal allowed. I didn't think using multiple screens, all under manual (non-bot) control was anything wrong. Yes, I was trying to get an advantage on how quickly the market prices change, but as I said, I was doing so with complete manual control of it.
