I hope we have some sort of grind this year
-
The show 18 was my first show in a long time so I’m by no means an experienced player or even a great player.
With that being said I personally loved the stat grinds in 2018. I liked having to use obscure cards that I would never use had I not needed to get stats with cards. In 2019 I really felt there was no type of grind at all for cards. Everything was really easy to accomplish.
Were the stats needed to complete the challenges a lot? Absolutely some of the stats needed were outrages and a lot. But I would love for them to bring back any type of stat grind. Something for offline people to really work for. -
Do you realize that some of us have a life? A job, a wife, kids, a house to care for, a hobby or two, pets that also consume some of our time. The grind only brings deceptions to some of us. Due to some equipment failures I am taking a rare weekday off and instead of been grinding mlb the show, I am surf fishing in the emerald coast.
-
loved the stat grind of 18??? you are a special kind of crazy sir, kidding aside a mix of 17 & 19 would be cool but nothing from 18 should ever be added to any game
-
You loved the stat grind? You in a looney bin or somethin?
-
I loved having something to grind towards. The expectations were too much, but we need something to work towards. I too have a wife and a job, I never understand why people feel the need to bring that stuff up. Instead of thousands of requirements, make it a hundred or so. But too completely cut it out was a little harsh.

Did you complete all team affinity all teams march to October and all moments? I bet you didn't.

Lol. As a teacher sometimes I feel like I am! But maybe I didn’t portray my thoughts clear enough. I absolutely think 18 was too much of a grind. In no way am I saying make us get 2,000 saves or anything! That’s mind numbing and not fun. But to get 75 wouldn’t be terrible. It’ll take time but that’s alright!

Team Affinity innings, like XP and program stars, are uninteresting background tasks.
18's missions at least gave more interesting, challenging objectives I could do organically in the course of a game using my DD team. The overwhelming majority of moments don't involve my DD team and even those that do don't count toward TA and daily mission innings because Moments is not DD. In any case, Moments are isolated, inorganic tasks where you're told to do a thing and there's no point in doing anything else and thus it gets frustrating if you have trouble with one and have to try repeatedly. If I failed a single-game mission in 18, there was at least the ability to get progress in other, longer-term missions at the same time.
I understand the requests for stat missions; it's a reaction to the dearth of offline content by asking for the return of what we had before. I don't agree with just bringing back stat grinds - what I want is a new offline DD mode like a Season mode. I want to be able to slot my DD team into the MLB schedule and try to win the World Series. Give rewards based on difficulty level, with a bonus for using Salary Cap mode where my team is built more like a BR team instead of a god squad. Expanding Conquest doesn't appeal to me at all since the maps don't take long to do and have zero replayability, and even with a new map every day it'd still be nothing but three-inning road games.

I agree! I shouldn’t have said bring back stat grinds, instead bring something to be able to grind towards. That’s an interesting idea

You're a teacher? Oh man my condolences, I know kids can be a pain in the [censored]. I do agree some sort of stat mission(17 had it perfectly balanced imo) would be great. 18 was nightmare fuel and exhausted the game. Especially for DD players, strikeouts are impossible on 18.
-
Unfortunately I never played 17 but it seems everyone loved that game. I agree by the end of 18 it seemed everyone was exhausted!
-
The monthly stat grinds in 18 were decent. Mostly stuff that you would get while playing anyway, sometimes it would push you to use players you normally wouldn't.
It was the crazy immortal stat grinds that killed that game.
Moments are no replacement thought they sucked in March and they suck now.
-
Hated the stat grinds in MLB 18 and because of that I spent a fraction of the time in that game I had in the others. I think I have spent 10 times more hours into 19 than I did 18.
Part of my problem though was it forced me to bench players that I wanted in my lineup and play with some card I could not care less about and try to reach some particular stat.
In the Team missions I was working towards a completely useless Ozzie Smith and while I reached many stats fairly easily others were ridiculous. I play mostly conquest. I don't usually have a middle reliever earn a hold for me so I was never going to naturally get that stat. Essentially I gave up because three or four of the team stats were going to force me to play the stats instead of the game.
I think they are on a better track with 19 and I hope they continue down that road in 20.

would you say the 11 inning program stars for 50 HR with finest players and 50 HR with All Star cards to be similar to what you want? I'm for that, but not for stars. give me cards in a collection for that.

Yeah exactly. Exactly what I was looking. But instead of stars like you said give a card. That way wether you are an online or offline player you can work towards something

We all know 18 grind was PATHETIC. But 19 was to easy to get end game cards. I do play conquest, RS, and BR.
IMO we need some kind of grind for cards and we also need it to be harder than 19 to get end gm cards.
Can't remember what they were called but they were the first wave of stats you had to get. They had 1st base, 2nd base, sp etc. That type of grind is gd enough. -

I wasn’t really a fan having such high overall cards available so quickly. Doing that seemed to really rush the life cycle of the game.
