Just maybe google him and compare him to real speedsters who made a career of stealing bases.

No offense to Tyler or let’s say any player

If Ricky Henderson has the same speed as that guy then their game is full of [censored].

Trea Turner 99, max clsrk 99. What’s the point of getting a real hall of fame speedster if they consider legendary Tyler Fitzgerald at 99?

What’s their criteria for speed and how does it equate to their game.

I’ll tell you and it’s because they broke their game and don’t know how to fix it so they just input “99” to make them feel fast because anything 0-98 feels like a boxcar fat [censored].

Nobody knows who Tyler Fitzgerald is and if he had 99 speed everyone would have heard of him

Then down the road sell a 99 Ricky Henderson for about 1500 stubs because Fitzgerald already played the part of Ricky months ago. They just continue to mash themselves in the face with their meaningless attribute wheels or McDonald’s smile or flow charts. Tyler Fitzgerald stolen base master. A legend among mortals.

Hey there, I think I can help you out. I’m a Giants fan and know Fitzgerald and his speed pretty well.

He can’t really hit MLB pitching, not a great defender and he’s frustratingly inconsistent. He has displayed an incredibly low baseball iq - doesn’t have baseball instincts.

The guy is freaking fast though, really, really fast. Elite speed in fact - 99th percentile in MLB. All of this has been measured by statcast since 2015 - only guys consistently faster are Witt, Elly and Turner. So I don’t think the game pulls their speed ratings from anywhere outside of proven statistical data.

We don’t know for sure but he is most likely faster than Rickey, Brock or Vince Coleman ever were - athletes today in general are vastly superior athletically compared to even 10 or 15 years ago.

Also - base stealing is more about instincts, ability to read a pitcher and quick acceleration than raw speed. Rickey was the best ever at this even if he wasn’t the fastest. Fitzgerald is really fast but also terrible base runner.

So this is a too long post to tell you that your criticism of Fitzgerald and the game in this specific issue is not only misguided, but highly misinformed and wrong. Have a good one.

Do you realize how many guys in this game have 99 speed? There’s a lot. Even guys with 99 speed and 99 steal, which is the same as every Ricky card. They’re not saying they’re the same as Ricky. I’m a Giants fan and Tyler is not Ricky. He does have incredible speed, always in the top stat cast speed in the MLB, but doesn’t steal bases. Nobody’s heard of him because he’s a very inconsistent hitter who strikes out a lot, who’s had maybe 1 good month in his MLB career and is mostly a backup as a minor leaguer. I don’t understand the point of your post except it shows you don’t understand how attributes in this game work, and you’re comparing a AAA guy to Ricky Henderson.

Speed is Speed and Base Stealing is Base Stealing. In this game though Speed is the most important for stealing a base.

For better or worse SDS uses, if I am not mistaken, Statcast's Sprint Speed Leaderboard. For 2024 Tyler trailed only Bobby Witt Jr and Johan Rojas

Sprint Speed is Statcast’s foot speed metric, defined as “feet per second in a player’s fastest one-second window” on individual plays. For a player’s seasonal average, the following two types of plays currently qualify for inclusion in Sprint Speed. The best of these runs, approximately two-thirds, are averaged for a player’s seasonal average.

    • Runs of two bases or more on non-homers, excluding being a runner on second base when an extra base hit happens

    • Home to first on “topped” or “weakly hit” balls
