Spring breakout
-
They aren’t playing in the Spring Breakout, so I would never have expected them to have a card for the Spring Breakout. Since both are making the starting roster, LS is pretty much all it’s going to be until they have a decent month or game featured by a TN or spotlight card. Both may have an outside shot at a FS (or whatever they’re calling it this year) card.

I was looking at the A's Spring Breakout roster, and Morris is on it. I wonder if they'll release a card for him in the game.

@Blind_Bleeder_PSN, just curious... why so high on Morris? Not bagging; I'm a life-long A's fan and while I've heard of him, I'm much more excited about seeing Jump and Nett.
What am I missing?
I'd love to hear that there's a pleasant surprise (for me) ready to cross that yellow bridge to the park. -

I'd love to hear that there's a pleasant surprise (for me) ready to cross that yellow bridge to the park. He's my nephew (in a round-about way - the half-brother of my nieces and nephews), and I've been watching his progression for a while now. He isn't one of those "headline" players, but he is a typical pitcher - "never give up, and if they get me, I'll get them next time." We expect him to hit the majors this year. I'm hoping he pitches against the River Cats at least once before they pull him up, so I can see him play in Sacramento without the high ticket prices. When he does get pulled up, I'm hoping it's a home game in Sac so I can go see him in his debut.
Soderstrom and Morris are from the same area, and Soderstrom's father was one of his coaches as a young player.
-
How cool is that? Well, he may not be "headline," but I just noticed that his stock has risen a fair amount as he's leapfrogged a couple of other pitching prospects (I went back and read his scouting report and checked in on Athletics Nation's community prospect list)... MLB lists him as #12 in the A's org, now, with only a few pitchers more highly regarded, and they're projecting him to break in this year, also.
I wish the best for the young man; I plan on hitting more than a few games in Sac this year, so hopefully I can get a glimpse myself!
I appreciate you sharing that.

@SavageSteve74_PSN Crawford has 47 ABs for the Phills in 2026 Spring Training. Painter has pitched 4 games and has a 2.31 ERA. So outside [censored] of Future Stars is wild and 2 they are playing?!? Why give the Mariners 4 or 5 cards and not either of these two 1? They are playing, spring training break out cards aren’t performance based or some of the guys they dropped wouldn’t have cards. I use the stats to prove a point that they are playing not they need a card. Just saying spread the love to other teams.
-
Crawford and Painter are not on the Phils spring breakout rosters. They are in major league camp working toward and expected to be on the 26 man, Aiden Miller isn't either as he has a back injury.they only gave cards to those who played in the spring breakout games. Nori did but he just got a WBC card.
-
@PAinPA_PSN so they need to make the roster? Ok now why are the Phillies not putting either of them on the 26 man
. I wanna win. -

. I wanna win. When I say 26 man I'm referring to the regular season one, they aren't on it because it doesn't exist yet, won't until a day or 2 before opening day(I don't know why they wait till the last minute to do it)

I don’t think you understand what Spring Breakout is. It’s a special event that’s occurring at the end of Spring Training. Every team has selected minor league players from their own team to create a special Spring Breakout roster. Every Spring Breakout roster is competing against each other as a sort of showcase for the future of the team. Painter and Crawford weren’t selected for the Spring Breakout team since they have both made the MLB team. Miller wasn’t selected either since he’s dealing with back issues. Nori and Escobar would’ve been most likely candidates for cards, but Nori just got the WBC diamond so SDS isn’t giving him a second one.
Hopefully you understand it now.

@The_Joneser_PSN I think Morris is the opening day pitcher against the Bees...
-
@Blind_Bleeder_PSN, that's great... pitching on opening night is a pretty big deal. Looks like he's definitely going to get his shot to show what he can do this year.
I certainly wish him the best, and hope to see him at Sutter before too long!

@Blind_Bleeder_PSN, pretty good start for Morris on opening night... happy for him that he's starting games now (and doing well, it seems), but sure would have liked to see him in the pen for the big club these last couple of days.
