I am not the one to ask as I only play offline and usually default to veteran myself. Most of the time I don't even move the PCI. I leave it centered and wait for mistake pitches. Works pretty well for offline but not really online.

Maybe the new Big Zone hitting mode will help in 26. It is supposed to bridge the gap between timing hitting and Zone.
