i don't like how they insulted everyone by saying today 'they listen to the players' or similar to that.

if you listened to the players you would have at least acknowledged the complaints about the graphics.
even if they said 'yes we know you aren't happy w/ the graphics and we're working on it' wouldve been fine.
But it's like the elephant in the room. the completely ignored it when everyone in the community who has been loyal to this game for decades is talking about how the graphics look stale and old now.

Funny how the conversation went immediately into graphics when I never said that lol. This guy is clearly director of gameplay & I believe the guys name is Chris Gill. He is the director of gameplay & i said to DFA him. Idk if he controls the graphics or not lol.
I just played a ranked game, I was 3-11 on goods. My opponent was 7-10. Mind you. This guy was 20 games under .500 & had one batter hitting above .200. Lol. Why does the game reward him to death yet I cant buy a hit? Thats the horrible gameplay that makes me not want to play.

There’s still RTTS, MtO, franchise, co-op. There are collections and the market and a million ways to enjoy the game. What else do people want?

People keep parroting this line about how we’re paying for a roster update. That’s silly, of course. But I’ll say this — I would be fine with paying $100 for a minor upgrade over 2025, because it’s the weekly (or even twice weekly) content updates that keep bringing me back. Again, I grew up on NES and SNES. You bought the game and that was it. No patches or updates or new content or bonus levels or anything like that. And even now, after 7 years of playing this game, I’m still floored by all the content we get AFTER buying the game. This is the only game I play from about March through December, and even still I usually can’t finish everything. There is so much cool stuff to work through, and I’m essentially an offline-only player. To me, it’s well worth the hundo for the hundreds of hours of enjoyment this game brings me. I’m sure we’ve all spent way more on leisure activities that brought us way less fun for far fewer hours.
Haters and fanboys — it’s time for all of us to unite as one! In fact, let’s all just wear one big shirt.
If you're a million, i must be a million and 10 lol. I started with RBI baseball on NES and when Bases Loaded came out, i thought that was it. Graphics reached their peak. The Show, to me, is as good as it gets. I think the nitpickers wanna see sweat and Cheetos dust in Bryce Harpers beard or something. How much of the player faces do we really see other than plate walkups and cutscenes in RTTS? Not much. We see their back while pitching and batting, we see small character models in the field. Unless people are just zooming in during a replay and staring at a players freckles or nose hairs, which is just weird, we dont see much.
Also, we saw what happened in 23 when they tried to add different things to baseball and it wasnt good. No one asked for dragons and Mothra flying around in the outfield during a mini seasons game.

Hardball III and Nolan Ryan's Baseball here EDIT - oh yeah, Roger Clemens MVP Baseball & Cal Ripken Baseball too. So many choices back in the '90s.

I agree that the graphics are fine (individual blades of grass blowing in the wind would be neat, and all, but...). I think the biggest leaps, now, will come by focusing on better physics and dialing in the speed with which players move relative to the batted ball and the size of the field.
Fewer HRs, more balls landing on grass.

Definitely agree with fewer HRs. Id prefer to actually play baseball and not every game turning into a HR derby. I think the worst thing SDS ever did was giving everyone 125 power. Should be capped at 99 and on those rare occasions for someone like Judge or a Raleigh milestone card, give them 100.
Thats why when i play RTTS i put more into contact and fielding than i do power. I dont wanna hit 1000 HRs in my first 10 seasons.

I played SNK Baseball Stars for years on the NES (not even "Super"). I loved that game, and must have played it for thousands of hours. Diving, climbing (and sometimes falling over) the fence to rob home runs. Editing rosters. Playing with women softball players who actually pitched underhand. Stat-keeping. Secret menus. I mean... it had it all. I managed to find an NES emulator back in 2015, and found a USB NES controller on Amazon. Fired it up and... AWESOME.
My belabored point... even as much as I loved that game, MLBTS is pretty amazing. I do wish SDS would upgrade the graphics to "next gen" to see what the new hardware is really capable of. In the meantime, I'm still pretty happy with what we have. Like you said, as long as they keep making incremental improvements, I'm OK with that. I like playing DD of course, but also delve into the market economics, download data using the APIs for analysis, and run over to RTTS with my fleet-footed 245lb shortstop "Bubba Blue" from Louisiana. It entertains me for 9 months a year. So yeah... worth my $99 (but I got the 10% discount, so even better).
My wife just reminded me that we have a concert to go to down in Miami on the 14th. Which means we'll be driving down on Thursday night. I'm going to hide my Xbox in my luggage... my son has a monitor in his apartment... so... I'm still good to go for opening night.
Finally... talking about Baseball Stars... I now have all these songs stuck in my head. SDS, if you can find a way to add these to the soundtrack this year, I'll pay extra:

Baseballs Stars is legendary. First sports game with seasons and created players. Adding the RPG elements to improve your team was so ahead of its time. Tecmo Super Bowl gets all the credit for being influential, but Tecmo Super Bowl was itself influenced by Baseball Stars
As for the original topic, while I think there is some tweaking to be done with the outcomes in the hitting engine, there is no change SDS could ever make to avoid people whining loudly about the game being unfair when they lose.

Would I be upset if SDS updated the graphics? Heck No. But the issue is not make or break for me. Prettier graphics do not suddenly make the gameplay experience better or more compelling.

I loved playing Tony Larussa baseball on my old 286 (top of the line), and setting and managing the all-time greatest line-ups. But i am older than most of you. I can barely remember being 42!

Man, ya'll are young. I've been playing since Atari Home Run came out. I'd prefer to see expansion and development of franchise mode again then anything else. Sure graphics are nice, but there are already pretty good.

Hardball was fantastic for the depth of stats it had. One underrated game that played exceptionally well for the time was VR Baseball. I never see people talk about it. That was what the game people want today. Visuals were real good, but the game play felt real authentic and playable too.
