Updating the MLB The Show 19 Rosters
-
I never downloaded the live roster from MLB The Show 19 or 20, which means, I'm forced to use the pre-season roster file. I love this game. It was a great year for baseball, and it had some pretty cool graphics (not gameplay wise but rather game screens and other stuff). As a Mets fan, it sucks that I can't use Pete Alonso in his rookie season with an accurate face scan, so I decided, I'm just going to update the rosters to the best of my ability myself. To update everyone's attributes, I simply go to ShowZone and look up the given player's Live Series card from 19 and use those exact attributes. To move players to their new respective team, I just go into roster control and swap players from team to team. As for creating the rookies, this is a bit tough. For one thing, trying to design their faces is a nightmare, especially since this game was made 6 years ago and therefore possesses a lack of customization options, but I reference their head shot from 2019 and do my best. Sometimes there are YT videos available with these players from the Show 19, so I can get the accurate batting stances and windups for them, but for most, I just have to go to "prospect stances" and pick the that's look the most realistic. I also do use old MLB Film Room videos to try and get accurate equipment styles (bats, gloves, batting gloves, elbow guards, cleats, etc.), which is usually easy (however, a lot of equipment brands weren't in 19, not even Victus, so I'm limited). So far, I've completely updated the AL East, the Mets, the Phillies, the White Sox, and the Indians. I've created Pete Alonso, Vlad Jr., Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, Eloy Jimenez, Mike Tauchman, Trent Thornton, Michael Chavis, Oscar Mercado, Dylan Cease, Aaron Civale, and Zach Plesac. Overall, this is a fun project (Anthony Rendon is a 99 btw). I'll upload some pics into this thread so you can see how it looks once I finish, which will probably take a while.
