Need advice on what to look for in pitchers in pitch mix and how to pitch at the 600 ratings and below .

What stats on cards should I be looking for. What pitch mix and speeds.

I know it’s two completely different games above and below. Some pitchers won’t work on one but good on the other.

Still working on batting with zone. Plus side is in striking out less than 10x a game due to quirks like unfazed and breaking ball hitter and bad ball hitter

Hitting: There a thousand tips out there, and it’s very similar to a golf swing. You can’t strike a golf ball with multiple thoughts on your swing running through your head. Find some tips that work for you. Find a pci that works for you. Find a grip that works for you (I’m using the claw after seeing a video on it earlier this year and it took practice but I now hit much better that way).

But, above all, take BP in practice mode for at least 5-10 minutes a day against a good pitcher or meta pitcher and do it regularly. It seems so stupid to say this but I know I didn’t take BP all the time before this year, now I do and the results are increasing.

The last thing to remember is that this happens gradually. There is no magic bullet that will make you jump to World Series overnight.

That gradual improvement is what keeps me playing the show. I was a pretty darn good Madden player up until last year. But that was all exploiting the ai and my ability to quickly change stock plays on the line on both sides. It’s easy to learn a few money plays in Madden and score a td, but that isn’t gratifying to me. It’s a hollow victory. With the show I’m building skill and enjoying the struggle.

The stats on pitchers you should be looking for are mainly h/9 and clutch, but k/9 is important as well. Higher control and bb/9 dont matter as much because the difficulty is lower. Try to look for pitchers with a sinker, good velocity, a slider or slider variant, and a changeup or splitter. For hitting, I would recommend getting a Kontrol Freek and precision rings and if you are struggling to hit, get players with high contact and clutch.

I do something called "keyholing". I just look in a certain location for a certain pitch and refuse to swing unless I get it. As a result I will strike out looking a fair amount, however when I get it I mash.

The issue for me online is a ton of pitchers having outlier FB that never threw 100 in their careers. Lee Smith, for example...in game has a 103-104 MPH FB...he never threw higher than 98 in his career. Another one is the new Corey Kluber...his hardest thrown pitch was 96.9 mph 2 seamer...yet online he was throwing a 4 seamer at 102. This is also a glitch as his card lists a sinker at 94, not a 4FSB.

Now, is my reaction time anywhere near as good as it used to be? No, which is part of it admittedly. But SDS needs to stop giving these guys outlier FB's that werent really known for throwing gas. Pedro Martinez is another guy who topped out in his prime at 97-98, yet throws well over 100 online.

@CalisGW_PSN I want my pitchers to have at least 2 of sinker, cutter and outlier fastball. Ideally you want a difference in velocity between these pitches too. I also want some sort of changeup or splitter. A slider or sweeper next. Curveballs are basically worthless IMO. Use them sparingly and mostly out of the zone. As far as sequencing, look up some YouTube videos on tunneling pitches.

Stick with zone. Get some control freaks for the left stick and some precision rings. Learn to be patient. Load into a game vs cpu and try to walk. Take pitches until 2 strikes, but track every pitch with the pci.

Cut the plate in 2 halves. Early in counts get good at hitting inside pitches. Don’t swing on away and outside stuff until 2 strikes. A pitcher like 97 maddux is very good at 600 and below. Lots of movement and most people at they level are only good against fastballs.

I bought that dual sense edge controller and changed the right back trigger to X , and also got these rings that go around the bad of the left joystick so it stops you from smashing the joystick out of the zone , been raking. Hopefully it helps you

So which 5 starting pitchers would you go with at 600 and under? Is break outlier a must? Roger Clemens does not have break outlier. I completed live set early and Clemns was rocking it for me. Lately he has been getting touched up a bit as hitters have become better stats.

This is great advice but I simply don't have the reaction time to do it, never have unfortunately 😞 I wish I did.

Roger Clemens is still relevant, he is a top 3 pitcher in the game. Some arms to think about are him, Clayton Kershaw, Corbin Burnes, Ubaldo Jimenez, CC Sabathia, Tarik Skubal, and Roy Halladay.
