@SaveFarris_PSN I've heard about you! You're one of the trolls around here; the miserable types who just roam the forums, waiting to try to bring others down to your own level of misery.

@Egotte_PSN nothing assumed here, just going off of what you wrote. Looking to resurrect a 2005 console-PC war with comments dripping condescension.

BTW, @SaveFarris_PSN isn’t a troll, he’s the forum’s master archivist and has been dealing with trolls and whiners for years.

@yankblan_PSN I don't care how long someone's been here or who they are, jerks are jerks.

You're still assuming! "Master archivist"? I know those types. They're usually just people who live on forums, and they assume that everyone is going to be a [censored], rather than giving someone a fair chance. You take yourself WAY too seriously, but if you're a Yankees fan, I'm not surprised!

"Looking to ressurrect a 2005 console-PC war..." What the Hell are you even saying!? lol

@Egotte_PSN you talk about assuming; not a Yankees fan, not even close.

Do you even proofread before posting or just hit « send »? From your post:

I think the console-only boys and girls may just be a bit jealous of the scope of PC gaming.

@yankblan_PSN So what's your role here? Are the the Master Archivist's version of Igor? lol

San Diego Studio has the only product in town. They brought The Show to the Switch of all places, where it runs like [censored]. The next logical step is PC. The market for it is HUGE.

@Egotte_PSN they took it to Xbox and Switch because they were forced to by MLB. It would probably (emphasis on probably) be a better product and/or have better support had it stayed 1st party. PC gamers would whine non-stop about the outdated engine.

    @SaveFarris_PSN

Ain't that the truth! Seriously, I'm not wanting to agitate any of you. I haven't been on these forums long, with good reason, but I care a LOT about the game.

My heart's always in the right place, even if I come off as a jackass! It's my sense of humor that has never translated well, online. It didn't work 25 years ago, and it doesn't now!

I hope your day goes better!

@yankblan_PSN I like both consoles and PC, but having worked with PCs for... 31 years now? The more I know about PCs, the more of a pain in the [censored] they are. I just see huge potential for this game on that platform. When I'm in the Vault, and I don't see a console icon next to a creation, from where is that person creating that logo, roster, or player doing it?

@victoryphoenix_PSN There it is! If only Sounds of the Show had been kept (they could have done it, but chose to force us to listen to 95% vulgar modern "hip hop" instead). I do my best to tolerate a few of the songs, but man, it was infinitely better when I could create players and play games with all my own custom music.

What would you mod first? People are scared about being able to mod their way to multiplayer wins, but there's good anti-cheat software SDS can implement. I think the console-only boys and girls may just be a bit jealous of the scope of PC gaming.

You raise multiple excellent points, and you also struck precisely the right balance to deal with the trolls -- which hopefully means you also blocked their account.

For reasons that can only be attributed to outright hostility to the concept by the executive leadership at San Diego Studios, it seems that SDS has waged a war against customer customization of their game. While many of us have been railing against SDS for years for their overt refusal to upgrade Stadium Creator, Uniform Creator, and Logo Creator, you reminded me that they outright ditched Sounds of the Show. This was an unforced error.

There are times I think SDS listened to a group of scared lawyers who warned them that options for customers to customize their game was a license for them to do things that would haul SDS into court. This is of course total nonsense. It's also undermined by the reality that SDS has done very little to rein in the vulgar logos that populate their vault, despite well intentioned customers here warning them about those graphics.

So, if it isn't fear of litigation, then what is the motivation to undermine customer customization?

I think it's a dyed in the wool obsession on control. SDS wants their game to be played only the way SDS executives intend for it to be played. It's like a bad parent yelling at his children to "color in the lines!" Such parents destroy all joy the child has, and in the process grow older wondering why their children no longer desire to come home to visit for dinner, and move far away to prevent the conflict!

The idea that you cannot even choose the walkup music that your RTTS avatar player uses is nonsense! It's one of the coolest parts of the game of baseball that it easily adopts itself to scheduled play of cool music to energize the fans and players. Is there any other sport that comes close to the music played when a relief pitcher strides in from the bullpen?

But, nope, instead of that basic joy customers can have in their game, SDS instead chooses to ram down their throats music that appeals to only a small sliver of people, and ultimately features a lot of vulgar references. "You'll take our music and like it!" I can only imagine that being said by some SDS executive running a staff meeting where the subject of Sounds of the Show was brought up, all designed to immediately shut down that idea.

Yep, SDS is suffering from monopoly disease. And that's a very ugly disease to contract when the warts start showing!

@PriorFir4383355_XBL I read all of this, and I agree 5000%, for what its worth! I thought the studio came off a bit snotty, up until the mid-2010s. I didn't care for the product, but with all of the visual upgrades, the immersion, the various difficulty and ways to play additions, adding legends, and all of the freedom of customization, it became an incredibly good product!

XBOX fans went NUTS for this game, when 2021 hit. I could already see the drag while paging between teams, pages in the Vault, the glaring omission of Sounds of the Show. It wasn't off to a great start.

I'm not sure where the hiccup is, where this bottleneck is, but a lot of the people on these forums certainly don't seem to care to encourage positive change for the series. They prefer to watch as we make considerate, thoughtful critiques and ideas for positive change, tearing us down.

It's a forum, so... it goes with the territory.

So when someone like yourself puts up something this thoughtful, it adds to my day, so thank you!

I know there are lots of great people who love this product and especially those who love making it. Let's not see it devolve into Madden, because the XBOX and Switch fans are already trashing it more, year-to-year. They get a well-respected Sony game on a different platform, and Sony is held to a standard. And, rightfully so!

Since the game is only on Microsoft and Nintendo because MLB forced them to make it I would also lean into the waking up from a dream category. But, in that dream I’d be making old stadiums.

Well, it would appear that while you agree with it "5000%" the people running this forum at SDS simply cannot stand me saying it for folks like you to read. They put my XBox based account on a terminal redirect path, which is a sneaky way to ban someone without actually banning him. This is my Show account I'm posting under now. And it's likely my last post.

Companies that run in such a shady and below board manner don't deserve my time. It's become clear SDS isn't interested in what the customers think about their game or want to see in it. Now, it's equally clear they don't even want to hear us say it in ways they fear might tip the balance of customer viewpoints.

As someone who is old and grew up on 70's classic rock, I have very little use for the Soundtrack every year. Back when Sounds of the show was in the game I replaced the songs every year with a list of classic rock.

But, as much as I miss that feature I am not sure it is as straight forward as saying SDS just wants to force us to listen to their soundtrack (which I am not forced to listen to as I turn off songs in the jukebox almost immediately).

When the PS5 released, and it may still be the case, Sony removed the ability to copy any type of media to the PS5's internal drive. They kept the feature active on the PS4 because that console did allow for that option.

To keep the feature in the game that would have meant that they would have had to support streaming the custom soundtrack from an external drive or thumb drive and as someone who worked in IT support for his entire career I can understand why they would not want to deal with that potential headache.

I miss the feature as much as much as the next person. Hearing Foghat's Slow Ride or Foreigner's Feels Like The First time when I hit homeruns was always fun!

All that said, this is the first year in many that I actually kept a few songs turned on becuase I did not hate them.

I wish they'd consider your thoughts over the many on here that I've already blocked, who think they represent the company and its forums, but use it to mostly bring others down or tell us "that's never going to happen".

Sometimes leaders don't like when bolder leaders enter their "territory". Keep doing what you're doing!

    @Dolenz_PSN

I think I mentioned this before, but I own MLB The Show 24 (the PS4 version) on my PS5. I never once played it on my long-gone Playstation 4. They never removed the ability to import files. They simply didn't incorporate it into the "next-gen" versions, which still run inferiorly to the Playstation only PS4 versions.

It's not the hardware, it's the software version they didn't bother with; the ability to do it is there. They just chose not to keep it. Adding flowing hair and a stadium creator are cool new additions, but fixing what wasn't broken wasn't necessary.

The menus are still a godawful mess, too, but that's an American thing, when it comes to designs and layouts.

And as many people here know how I feel about this, the Vault needs to be cleaned up, YESTERDAY. And it needs to function smoothly.

I grew up on 80s music, ska, techno, orchestral... there's not much there for me, either! I stay open-minded enough. I like a few of the songs each year, but I used to throw on my own soundtrack, and it felt like home. I could create players for hours and listen to my own playlist. I'll always miss that.
