What are your theories as to why The Show hasn't been released for PC yet?

I have a few of my own!

There are an unlimited number of variations in PC setups and so coding games for PC carries an exponential increase in support issues. The entire reason why game consoles were first developed was to have a limited number of platforms that were all the same hardware and software setup, and so game developers merely had to test their games on a few consoles to ensure they would work.

Here's my take: they can't support it. MLB The Show can't even get it right on Xbox wih all the lags and server issues, and Nintendo looks like the PS3. Imagine trying to make MLB The Show compatible to PC. How many issues do you think there would be? No matter how many consoles SDS releases the game on, it is still a PlayStation first game. Their company is literally run by Sony

Cheating. Really easy to cheat on PC

This game on PC would create too much of a competitive advantage. Not just cheating, but the amount of graphic customization would make it near impossible for a console to compete online with a pc. Sure, SDS could code in limits, but PC has way too many options to get around that.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL That's not what it is.

@ThePapa55_PSN It runs on Switch, so I'm not buying it. Explain how a bevy of other Sony titles work great on PC. It's not a technical hindrance.

@Jacky-Chan1_XBL Maybe, but there's plenty of good anti-cheat systems in place, and those users would be easy to spot.

@SavageSteve74_PSN I'm not buying that reason either. Many of the other sports games have PC ports.

I think it's the data mining. There's a lot of information in the game's files that could easily be accessed to make SDS look foolish. I think there's a slew of Legends hidden in those files, dormant.

Modding PC games comes with the territory. They'll get over that. However, the technical aspects is not a valid reason. The Switch has a pathetic port, yet they still invest in that.

They'd make MILLIONS more if the game was available for PC.

Yes, loads of other games have a PC port, but none are as critical with timing as MLB. Imagine playing against someone who can have multiple monitors setup to create a scenario with even deeper zoomed in view with monitors that give you an expanded FOV, and enhanced shading to make the ball that much easier to track. There are constant debates on Fortnite and COD just about KBM vs Controller. Add that to this mix as well as enhanced graphics, and I guarantee a PC player wins against a console a super majority of the time. Hell, think about how much of a difference there is in players using gaming monitors vs TV (I know the newer TVs are just about as good).

Not even getting into the modding capabilities that could manipulate shading, reduce UI clutter, and customized controller polling.

Of course, there’s also the cheating factor that gets exponentially amplified on PC.

So, you wouldn't want to be able to play it on PC? There's ways to block modding and cheating. Like I said, if the Switch can get a bland port, PC would be a MASSIVE upgrade.

It can be done! I feel as if you're saying that you do NOT want to see it happen.

Pro soccer, NBA, and NFL have been able to do it. Super Mega Baseball does it (and now they block any sorts of modding, which is a bit asinine), so San Diego Studios could definitely pull it off.

Competitive advance, etc. Perhaps the first year or two, they would restrict cross-platform. See how the PC players handle having a port of their own, then go from there!

@Zachtronics_XBL obviously you don't understand that cheating is done very easily on PC which is why it won't happen for PC

even if they could block every type of modding and cheating, how do they account for the ones that have top of the line just released 3 days ago setups vs it was top of the line a year ago or two or those that are running middle if the pack setups or even bottom of the barrel I'm surprised it's strong enough to even turn on setups?
If they put limits on it,you anger those who have the best and spent all that money, and important to them- they might not get it because of, the low/mid end guys which would be a ton of possible sales would probably skip cause they'd be so outclassed...
any way they could do it it would be huge complaints/backlash
you see dozens or hundred on here about the state of the game and that's just consoles, add in pc and it's thousands/tens of thousands , all having the potential to reduce sales/engagement

As someone who worked beta testing and to a more limited experience product creation within flight simulator games for PC, I can tell everyone here what I said was stated with personal experience. PC games are a beast to test for and the myriad of issues arising from the various PC setups is essentially impossible to guarantee across the board support.

The reason these consoles were made was to reduce the variations in setups to make testing far easier and support far less complex. And this is coming from someone who spent great time working with people at online forums to help them overcome system related issues getting their copies of Microsoft Flight Simulator, Combat Flight Simulator, and many other such video games in the flight genre, to work as intended.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL SDS has the talent. If the other sports can be successful on PC, so can MLB. I get the feeling these forums just have a lot of contrarians; I expect that anywhere.

I've been in QA and helped solve a major frame drop hiccup, while also moderating. Optimism beats complacency.

    @PAinPA_PSN

    Man, you all are pessimistic!

@sbchamps17_NSW You know what they say about assume. So, you work for SDS and you know with 100% certainty that it won't happen? I'm not assuming when I say that you don't. Lighten up, brosephina!

@PAinPA_PSN I hope your job isn't to brighten someone's day, to push boundaries, or create, because you all are just miserable.
