I use to play DD all year long from MLB17 - MLB 23. MLB 24 DD was so bad it was the first time I quit playing half way though. Also CFB25 coming out sort of made me happily drop MLB 24.

MLB 25 i liked the content here since release. Feel like it's still not as good as past games but better than 24. But now I sort of feel like what's the point now. The new programs like the summer program don't do anything for me. Just getting a feeling like last year it's time to stop playing in a dedicated manner and maybe just pick it up when I get an itch.

Not sure why the last 2 years the game has become like this. I know a new team took over DD but seems like the games before 24 knew how to keep people's attention year round.

Fatigue. There’s only so many ways to re-package the format. I quit in August in 22, skipped 23 and came back refreshed last year. In a bit of a lull now (less time because summer and slight dip in interest) but I expect to keep pace overall. Still having fun but some things weigh on me for the collections purposes (MS).

I squeeze in a few games here and here but I am just not finding it as fun. I mentioned the other day I jumped on and started a conquest map I had not done. Playing on veteran both games took 4 innings as we went into the 4th inning tied 0-0

I am just not hitting as well as I used to. Whether that is a me thing or something they have tweaked I am not sure. Probably a combination of both.

I think the the excessive grind and expense has made this game not as fun. I think the expense to use any of the fun or interesting cards, has taken that away. The multiplayer program has made events a stat grind, BR isn’t fun unless you’re a flawless player. There are things, the random packs over choice packs have been frustrating me lately, can I please pull someone besides Paul Dejong and Austin Hedges, they’re other base players, let me choose.

Please go back to innings being the main way to progress, with wins and/or stats just allowing you to progress faster

Stats = bad, encourage quits against good pitcher as its by far the most efficient thing to do so
Wins = bad, encourages quits after you give up a run or two as its by far most efficient thing to do so
Innings = encourage people to just have fun and play out the games

I somewhat felt this and then had a week away from the game (vacation).

That helped in terms of coming back wanting to play and it was fun grinding the new mini season while simultaneously making progress on all the content released since the last Weekend Classic started

As for the topic itself, I play about as much as last year and less than half as much as 2023
    I play 2023 a fair deal still

-Spotlight/Topps Now treatment sucks. So many worthy players get ignored, and they choose not to release a lot of Topps Now cards. Its all so formulaic with only THREE program cards each week.
    -Hitting is more tedious offline
-Diamond Quest actively makes me less excited to play the game: I dont want to buy the cards that should be easily earned so I play the mode, but the mode just frustrates me
-Conquest has dried up, and we havent seen a medium sized conquest map since MARCH
-The only mini season with worthwhile repeatable rewards doesnt let you use rightiess or pitchers
-Buying cards with stubs is never rewarding to me, and 2025 version asks us to do that a LOT. I miss completing collections by earning the cards. I am 1 card away from completing Roki still because I am waiting to pack it instead of just buying one of the cheap 85s

The game is for sure better than 2024 overall, but its taken a step backwards in what I enjoy personally

I know people would rather bash the game and say how horrible it is. But this is an issue a lot of people ignore.

You just said you spent 7 years playing this game. Yeah you start new every year and you get that initial excitement. They've added multiple modes over the 7 years to try to keep things feeling fresh. But at the end of it you're just playing a baseball game and there's not much they can do to change that.

Of course you're going to start getting bored and lose interest in things if you're doing them too much. No matter how much you've enjoyed it in the past and want to enjoy it now.

This is how I feel. After playing DD for the last six years it just feels like, been there done that. It feels like I'm grinding for cards that I'll never use just to get programs or team affinity done and I rarely play with the cards I want to.

Not sure about that. if i played this game for 7 years start to end cycle, then if I started to get bored and lose interest if I did it too much, I would have then got bored around year 3. Not year 8.

DD isn't the same the last 2 years as it was before 24. It was fun before 24. Its just not as fun now.

It’s this. It’s baseball, every game is the same. If you’re bored of baseball then stop playing it and go do other things. The “grind” mentality of players feeling like having to get cards the day they come out is what’s the problem, and that’s on the player. Quit for a week or two and you’ve got new content. Why do so many people think they have to have the best cards the day they are released?

I think where SDS has dropped the ball is on Captains - other years there were many more captains and options of creating theme teams and this year they’ve shelved that.

I only have interest in Cardinals players or former players, but due to the enormous amount of TA I’ve had a blast making other theme teams but they’re all team limited.

Wish there were more captains available to screw around with more players I’d never normally play with. I’m bored in that aspect but otherwise it’s just baseball.

Losing interest is probably too strong a term for me, but I am definitely getting frustrated with the pace of completing Collections.

PXP vs CPU has been nerfed, cards are way too expensive, moments (and showdowns) are unnecessarily difficult. I’ve yet to find anything to consistently flip.

In general, I feel like I’ve been set up to “fail”, not “success” (so far) when I play.

I know SDS monitors our progress, so I’m hopeful they will adjust their strategy and make things a bit easier in many areas.

I know what you mean. Whether it be moments or diamond quest I hate being penalized for winning with singles if the goal is hit one XBH for example. It kind of goes against what baseball is about, which is scoring runs. It sucks for instance to score 6 runs on singles and doubles in DQ when the mission is to hit a HR, on top of dealing with pitchers who don’t throw strikes.

They have to find some way to make those things better. They did change it from HR to XBH from past years, hell I remember the worst was a Jackie Robinson multi game thing that you needed X triples in 5 games. It was dumb because it didn’t award you for hits so they did tone it down by going with #bases sort of thing in future iterations

Very much so, play against the CPU is just a ball fest this year. I'm close to done, it's late June. I've said it before and I'll say it again here, I don't play this game so the CPU can walk me, i want to be able to hit.

Just did the Suarez moment or the Arizona 9 run comeback and it took me 20 tries because not one pitch was over the plate....

So yes very close to done
