Interesting discussing in the last post: Is it really about rookie not being easy enough or (and I think it is just that) easy not being easy enough getting xp / something done quicker. If it is the last part, then something is totally wrong (in the thinking process). This is a baseball game and not an „we make it easy for you to get xp fast“-one
Appreciate your response to my post, and we will definitely disagree. Before last year's game, Rookie setting gave you far more strikes, including meatballs. They had to patch it last year after admitting that balls were out of control. It's never returned to pre-24 Rookie mode -- even though I haven't played much this year, it's been obvious.
I'll repeat again that it's not about "not liking baseball" -- DD is a sports RPG mode, sort of, and a lot of people playing on Rookie could win almost always on All-Star or HOF against the computer. I'm one of them. I simply do NOT want to work counts on Rookie. And lots of people share my POV. If I need 10 HR with left fielders and I load up a game at Coors on Rookie, I do NOT want to work counts, period. I do not want to get to 3-2, and I do not want to walk. This is not "not liking baseball," it's wanting the old Rookie setting back. That's all.
Okay … but be honest: You want Rookie back because you want to grind quicker/get missions done faster?
… Imo, wrong way of „playing“ a baseball videogame and I get that they made it more realistic (the superman-fielders are the way worse problem imo
)

Sounds like what you guys are looking for is a Home Run Derby mode. That's not what this is. It's a baseball game.
But either way, it's still insanely easy to rack up stats on these lower levels. I'm not great at this game or anything, and I played a game on Veteran at Coors yesterday for the Spotlight grind and won like 24-0 or something with 30 something hits. I'm not sure how it could get much easier than that.
absolutely agree … The game should not be a meatball simulator (like 24). The pci is big enough, if you swing at every pitch and expect it to be a very good pitch, then something is off … in the end: it is a baseball sim like videogame

What’s funny is that there are three consistent type of answers from folks who disagree with us who say that something’s up with hitting:
“Something’s up with hitting? Get gud!”
“Something’s up with hitting? Ah, you just want the rewards without doing the grind!”
“Something’s up with hitting? Go play another game!”
No, we enjoy playing but SOMETHING’S UP WITH HITTING. It’s as simple as that and we’d like it fixed!
-
Well said and spot on. Excuses for either a broken game mechanic or an intentional change by SDS to slow the grind. Those are the only 2 answers that make any logical sense at all.
-
@TripleH-4481_PSN ok, how do you explain that I’m hitting better this year than 21-22-24? (Skipped 23) I had way better cards earlier in 24 and most of my players are over 50-100 avg better than last year? The game is fine; not perfect by any stretch but hitting is fine. Still bombing away.
-
Fwiw(and no inside info), I think SDS is trying to slow us down on the grind. I’m hopeful that they will see they’ve “over corrected” and quietly readjust in the 3rd inning.

@trfatboy22_PSN Lol, hilarious. The help I need is not playing the game, and I don't. I pop on here a few minutes a day to see how the year is going. You seem to be one of those forum white knights who thinks that someone who explains his problem with the game in a way that is at odds with you "needs help." My take has been logical, middle-of-the-road, and without resorting to extremes -- unlike you, who claim that I want ALL meatballs or HRD mode. That's not close to what I said, but it's easier for people to straw-man arguments they disagree with rather than sitting in the messy middle where people legitimately can disagree. My AP Lang juniors would have a field day with our exchange, how you project/misrepresent/straw-man the opposing POV. Echo chamber argumentation, 10/10! Fair representation of the other side?...3/10, maybe. But all good -- it's just a game

@Loyal-Wiglaf_XBL How long did it take Chat GPT to write this for you? Lot of big words for someone who thinks Rookie is too hard.
-
Ad hominem attacks now -- thanks, ChatGPT! When someone resorts to simplistic straw-manning and then graduates to personal attacks, I know I'm out of my depth. Forget AP Lang -- there's a remedial reading course available at your local community college, I'm sure. Blocked, and good look with Hooked on Phonics

@Loyal-Wiglaf_XBL I was reading what you wrote and last year when you needed 10 HRs from LF at Coors were you able to do that very easily in one or two games? If loaded up in secondary positions? And this year not as easy? I’m hitting same HRs same frequency but I can tell you this. On custom stadiums last year I found one called Maximum XP that supposedly was elevated and I did have multiple guys go 5-5 with all HRs! Maybe they can bring this back for those wanting to accomplish objectives and don’t have as much time to play as others.
-
@MrNintendo_MLBTS it also had short walls that were perfect for getting XB hit missions done. And I tried the Costco cheese custom someone recommended one here and barely hit there. Was very different from last year.
-
@MrNintendo_MLBTS No, no, it's all good. I'm not really playing this year much at all. And yes, of course, you play at Coors or some made-up place and load your lineup with that position...
...IT'S NOT HARD, I NEVER SAID THAT IT IS...
...Rookie pitching has been made stupidly more frustrating...that was really my only point.
Thanks for the response, though! This forum needs more even-keeled people like you

@Loyal-Wiglaf_XBL yes seem to throw more balls to make it realistic I guess. Get a lot of first two pitches out of zone and if aggressive like me 0-2 they usually throw movement to see if you’ll chase. All the HBPs are interesting for sure as well.
-
@MrNintendo_MLBTS I understand the folks that want to be able to get HRs easily, score runs, hits. That stadium and captain boosts helped me last year. Could find alot of guys easily fit Buxton then Devers boost and then go score 30-40 runs at that stadium to get objectives done and cards unlocked. Now this year not worried about unlocking everything and a walk after being down in count is more exciting sometimes than a HR. Kind of funny.

I find it very weird that some people want to tell other people how to play and enjoy their downtime. It makes no difference to anyone else's life if I want to sweat it out on Legend or just crank dingers on rookie. How on earth does that affect anyone but me? And SDS has always billed this as a game that "you play how you want to play." I don't want to win 40-0 at 10 Mile High Stadium, but who cares if someone else does? So weird. Just let people do what they want.
And yes, hitting is different this year.

Yep. A couple iterations ago they had a commercial with the coach saying, "Sometimes I just wanna hit dingers," or something like that.
Nothing startling. Like all businesses/podcasters/etc. in this always-online world, SDS is captured by and chasing its audience. Rampant inconsistency.
