PS Tournaments don't care about score

Participated in the small PSN Tourney. I was mid match with my opponent, I had the lead, and all of a sudden I was awarded 3rd place. After that notification my opponent left. I was winning 1-0 and it gave him the advance to play last match of bracket.
It's not that big of a reward, I'm more-so pi$$ed that I was awarded 3rd mid match with the lead while my opponent was losing and got the advance for 2nd place. Makes no sense and further validates my thoughts on this PSN Tourney Feature.
Idk how to attach video or photo from mobile. But yea, idk if anyone else has encountered the same BS. -
I had the same thing happen except I actually won my entire tournament and then the game shows that I lost even though the box score shows wins and I played actual wins. The game record shows wins but the tournament results shows a loss. I'm just baffled
