*List of Removed Legends for 2025*

I've heard all of this, for years, but I want to know the EXACT reason. I think it has to do with a database cap. There's no contracts.

Really? So they get these legends in the game with a handshake and an IOU?
-
@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN You tell me, but it'd be nice to have someone who really knows how it works, answer this question.
-
@SakAttack87_PSN Don't forget Jimmie Foxx, too. I have no idea why they remove them. I've been playing this series for more than a decade, and I've never gotten a definitive answer as to how this process works.

The reason is 100% financial and there are individual contracts involved. There is most definitely a budget for all aspects of the game/development including which Legends are signed.
Even though there are countless names I'd still like to see featured in the game, we have to realize that SDS has gotten several HUGE headliners over the last few years that have been asked for forever. The bigger the name usually translates to the bigger the check required to secure the rights to use their likeness. As a result, they have to make the decision to trim some other names in order to make it work within their budgetary constraints.
I do think, however, that they utilize data to see which players are being used. If (X) costs (Y) to have in The Show, but is only being used on (Z)% of teams, that ROI could be a major factor in which Legends are retained and which ones get removed.

@SakAttack87_PSN It seems there are roughly 10 more added to their database yearly, and with every player added, more memory is utilized (I've figured this out by moving around so many players in one session to make the game crash completely).
I still want to see proof that it's financial. And I still don't see why some players have two different versions, instead of just one. We all know that this game has serious declined in quality since it went to multiple platforms, and losing Legends is the last thing we want.
Those of us who Create Players, like myself, and have for almost a decade, have given up at this point, because we lose everything from the previous year, yet they allow the logos to remain. I like to create All-Time Franchise rosters, and we had a large community, but that's died off, and most of the crew doesn't bother to even buy this game anymore. So, we rely on keeping existing legends, only to see more added each year, not subtracted.

You want “proof” as if a private entity will open its finances. If it ain’t financial, what’s your theory, O wise one?

He doesn't have a theory. But it's definitely NOT the most obvious and logical explanation.
-
@DFC_MLBTS Yeah that was the straw that broke the camel's back. It's curious as to how they add 10 every year, but subtract a couple dozen.

Anyone know if longo is still around?

Longo just retired so he won't be in the game for a while
-
@America_69420_PSN Do you want him for DD or would you like to have an accurate CAP for him?
-
I usually have him for dd, one of my all time favorite players
-
@America_69420_PSN You can see how imbalanced the Legends are, yearly, from team-to-team. Tampa has Carlos Pena, that's it. Longoria could be back this year. Remember when Andre Dawson was plucked, only to return that very same year?
What's really interesting is how a studio from San Diego has so few Legends that coincide greatly with the Padres.
The least SDS can do is have CAPs remain, year-to-year.
-
@sbchamps17_NSW A while could be a couple of months. Darren O'Day just retired, and now he's a Legend.
-
Bring all the legends back
SSD got lazy. -

Just retired? His last game was almost 3 years ago.
-
@jverdejo28_MLBTS Something like that!

The one notable example that gives you hope is Curtis Granderson.
He retired after the 2019 season, but was still in The Show 20 and I'm pretty sure he's been featured in every installment since then.
What sucks is they will definitely leverage the bigger names. A guy like Pujols is someone who SDS can intentionally keep out of the game for a few years then present him as a new headliner Legend to entice sales.
