Sets and Seasons

If I recall correctly, it was mentioned many times in those expiring cards threads that without seasons launch content wouldn't be used more than a month.

SDS tried the "Okay, here's everything" model in 2018. It was easily the least popular version.
SDS WANTS people to keep grinding and to engage throughout the year. That's kind of the point.

One of the frustrations, for me, in S&S was that we got some very good cards at the beginning, only to have them invalid for programs and progression after a very short time. And then, when S2 began, we had to start all over. Sure, after S4, they were all usable again (for progression), but by then, there were many great cards, and the ones in the beginning were forgotten.
In this model, we start low and work toward great cards. We can still use these cards for progression down the road if we want to.

But then they removed the repeatable rewards for grinding , or drastically diminished them. Additionally added a new mode which is by far the most lucrative way to grind , but progresses nothing outside of gameplay xp and whatever stats are accrued via stadium challenge ( diamond quest )
Not saying it’s better or worse , just don’t see how it’s different. In 2 or 3 weeks the baseline will be 89’s and these xp program cards and MP program cards will be relegated to bench roles.

I miss 23’s sets and seasons model…

Correct.that is how it was.
For all the complaints about expiring cards, at the point they expired ppl would have moved on to better cards and not used them anyway. -
@PAinPA_PSN At least we had some cards to be excited about. Are there any cards outside the live series collection anyone is excited to go after right now?

Still my favorite year of MLB the Show ever.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN Seems like it’s pull a LS card or bust for anything that’s even remotely exciting , and that’s only because that LS card might eventually lead to an exciting and useful card lol.

So are you upset about sets and seasons or are you upset about removing repeatable rewards?
Because those are two separate issues.

This type of progress makes the rewards of programs or other content mean more because the next content drop always has the chance to improve your team.
In sets and season no content drop ever fundamentally change your team and its structure

@urbanphilosophy_XBL In years past there’s always been at least a handful of cards worth beelining to. None of these TA cards are all that exciting.

To each his own, I think some of the TA are interesting.
Always like this at the beginning, once the season starts next week the content will start flowing.
Other than trying out the new modes/set up, launch this year has been a little underwhelming compared to prior years. -
No model will ever satisfy this community. 99s on day 1, theres nothing to play for. Power creep, i wont use these cards in 6 months so i wont enjoy them now. Make up your minds.

@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN Give em a million dollars and they'll complain about which denominations the bills are.

For sure. Can't give em small bills because it'll take way too long to count. And of course, they'd flood the forums with posts asking if it's worth it to invest.
