I hear and read a lot of feedback about hitting input and I am curious what you guys are experiencing?

The videos I am seeing are mostly on „I had good input and I am not getting rewarded/receiving bad exit velocity“.

    I think:

    • Most of the people are not realizing that we did not have this kind of power creep since 22. That has more of an impact now
    • Exit velos (especially on those disgraceful stadiums like shield woods) have been reduced in minor league parks. That has impact too
    • What most guys do not think of when asking for „good/perfect input should result in a hit/HR EVERY time“ is … what does the other side think? Should perfect pitching input not matter? How is real life baseball? Sometimes, perfect pitches get crushed … some times perfect contacts result in outs …
    • What I am seeing: It does not look bad at all (I am not saying that hitting feedback is not good)…

Today is official launch and there is a lot of time to tweak things out once more and more people play
What do you think? Is it really „that bad“ from both viewing points (hitting and pitching)?

A lot of perfect/perfect fly balls dying on the track , more so than previous years for sure. A lot of bad swing bass hits too though so there is some balance to it at least

The perfect/perfect fly balls dying on the track, i think is mostly due to the low power of the cards at this stage, we’ve become accustomed to 99’s on day one, but the perfect perfect line outs seem a bit excessive to me so far.

I am not surprised that low power hitters have balls dying in the OR that low power hitters are getting weak contact hits. Kinda makes sense.

That said, in the past we have seen that happens when they try to adjust aspects of hitting during the game and it never goes well. Leave it alone and let the power creep do it's thing. At least until we get a lot more power hitters and then SDS can see if exit velos need to be tweaked.

Another issue is defense. My outfielders seem really slow, and the opposing infielders are all platinum glovers.

Not a fan of Infielder reaction times. Could be the cards i'm using at the moment as i don't really care about my defensive attributes, but I don't think I've had a single infielder dive for a ball that's just out of his reach when I've hit the R2 button. They act like they're stuck in mud and just watch it roll by them. I turned off the Auto Dive/Jump assist for the Outfield, but I left it on for the infield. Maybe that's why? CPU doesn't think the dive is necessary so its overriding my input? Either way, lots of ground balls have gotten by my infielders that I was making plays on last year...even if they were just knocking the ball down, at least they were attempting to dive and get it.

@icebergslim7669_PSN if you say so. Happens regardless of the power of the card. And I have some cards with plenty of power. I’m not overly bothered by it but I’m not going to blindly make excuses either. Just giving feedback based upon my experience with POWERFUL hitters like Giambi , Pena , Ozuna and so on.

Although the hitters you named are premiere power hitters , the cards for them that are released dont have great power attributes , only Giambi from one side is over 100 power , the other two guys power are both below 100 from both sides, but to your point i have seen more than usual fly balls die at the warning track, but i don’t think its a programming thing, i believe when these players get higher cards it will definitely happen less often.

@icebergslim7669_PSN issue is there is no rhyme or reason. A perfect/perfect from Giambi with over 100 power in one at bat dies before the track then the next hitter 82 power hits a no doubter with 82 power. No consistency , I have always felt like it was more RNG than it was input related. Still a fun game though regardless. I just think user input matters a lot less than people realize , and if I’m being honest I think it’s been this way for many years.

Interesting … no feedback if pitching feedback should matter too. This debate on every channel is very one-sided imo 🙂

Yes, this is worst the hitting has been in all my years playing this game. Most of my perfect perfects are outs. And I put good swings on most of the balls and they end up as weak dribblers or pop flys. Even with one of the best clutch hitters of all time in Beltran.

@urbanphilosophy_XBL The only thing this studio is consistent in, is being inconsistent
