Overheating PS5
-
You wouldn't see the liquid metal with just basic cleaning; the console would have to be taken apart down to the motherboard. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself. I would recommend researching and getting your console serviced by an experienced repetible repair shop if it's not still under warranty with Sony.

Very true, but it only happens when I’m pitching on the show. Every other game I’ve played I haven’t had this issue at all.

@Onelemur1_PSN said in Overheating PS5:
I have seen a couple other people with this problem. My PS5 is a bit older as I got it very early, but I don’t have this issue with any other game, which makes me believe that it’s just this game.
Mine is a first generation also. I got lucky and was able to get it when they first came out (at retail). The only problem I have is with my Ethernet connector, so I stick it on wifi and don’t worry about it. I don’t have an overheating issue, thankfully.

I am having the same issue. I've had three messages from ps5 saying it was too hot all while playing the show 25 and while pitching on the default cam. This game looks like it's from 2018 and yet it's working my ps5 so hard that it sounds like a jet engine. This has never happened before in any other game it's clearly a SDS issue. For any players that come across this i suggest switching your pitching camera that seemed to have helped. Or just don't play until they fix it...Not worth melting solder or components to play this carbon copy of last years game. But to SDS....this is pathetic. You call yourselves sony studios and you can't even optimize your game on your own hardware? You should fix it before you find yourself in a class action lawsuit for destroying people's property. How did this even make it past testing?
-
What camera are you using?
-
@Onelemur1_PSN I am on strike zone 2 now. My thought was any camera angle that doesn't include the crowd while pitching like the default camera angle does should make the ps5 work a little less hard when pitching (which seems to be when it's struggling the most.) Seems to have helped but it's a band-aid on an open artery nonetheless.
-
I’ll try that. Good to know I’m not the only one with this problem. It’s insanely infuriating because I love playing the show, and I’ve never had an issue like this. I hope they patch it soon. Because, that and a lot of other things are badly needed.
-
@Onelemur1_PSN Good luck let me know if it helps. It's definitely a SDS problem not a you problem. And don't let anybody tell you different. I've run much more visually intensive games with no issues just like you have I'm sure. There is no excuse really it's just clear incompetence and poor optimization.
-
Yes, the strike zone, and strike zone 2 cameras worked! Not used to it at all but at least I can play a full game without the fan even getting remotely loud. Thank you so much for your help and I hope a patch comes out real soon for it!
-
Same thing happened to me. I placed it horizontally and it’s not happening anymore.
-
@Onelemur1_PSN That's great I'm glad it helped. Hopefully they fix it fast before launch but in the meantime maybe this will help more people.
-
Had the same thing happen to me, set my PS5 horizontal and haven't seen it happen yet. Also had a friend who had his PS5 overheat. This does not happen on any other game, also for both me and my friend it only happened during online games

The people sitting behind home plate (visible when using a pitching camera) are causing (at least one of) the heating issues. You can hear the PS5 fans spinning up to max whenever these people are on screen.
This does not occur when using a pitching camera in practice mode (no people in stands) and it doesn't occur if you select a catcher/hitting camera for both hitting and pitching. It occurs less in stadiums where the people are less visible (e.g. a higher wall behind home plate)
To reproduce the issue, simply play a game using a pitching camera that allows the people behind home plate to be visible, and listen to the PS5 fans. They spin up like the system is gonna launch into orbit. Something about these people and/or their animations is unoptimized, so hopefully this gets fixed

I too encountered this issue and it freaked me out. I'm glad I checked the forum to see that I wasn't alone.
Hopefully whatever the issue is will be fixed soon. -
Have you changed camera to strikezone 2 or 3? Did it solve the issue?
-
So, I just wanted to state in here, that I did change the camera to strike zone 2. However, after the update, I did attempt to use pitcher camera, and there is still an issue. As noted above I have cleaned my PS5. I’m hoping that there is an update to fix the issue with the camera, as I can’t use my favorite camera to pitch. Also putting this here so that way other people or just got the game via global release can also use this thread in case they have the same issue.

@jake98833_PSN
I am having the same exact issue, I’ve tried pretty much everything I’ve seen online to try to fix this issue and nothing has worked, I also haven’t had this issue before this game. -
I still have not had one single overheating issue since I changed my pitching camera. Pretty sad they still haven't fixed the issue though. Take your time SDS it's not like it's destroying people's property or anything. You'd think maybe they'd at least have the brains to remove the camera angle for a few days until they fix the issue but nope. And no surprise it's been happening to alot more people. SDS hasn't acknowledged it yet that I'm aware of (probably because of the implications) but they definitely know about it because apparently it happened to a dev live on stream. It goes beyond incompetence at this point, it's more like negligence.
I guess the pitching camera work around has not been working for everyone though so if you are one of those people I would encourage you to just not even risk playing the game until they acknowledge and fix it. A broken game is better than a broken ps5.
-
I get about 4 innings into a game and my PS5 just shuts down. I played the show24 and no issues. Played a couple other games with no issues. Tried the show 25 again and it crashed again.
-
Another workaround I seemed to have found for now is making a custom broadcast pitching camera where you just take a broadcast cam and zoom it all the way out.
Tho there are also a few cutscenes that cause this issue. It doesn't seem to be the fans, it seems to be an issue caused during close-ups of players.
Yet for some reason the C camera isn't effected by it.
