Your "far too early" plans for the 2025 cycle
-
I know there are still a lot of details to be fleshed-out over the next few weeks, but here's where my head is at for 2025:
- I will pre-order for the 5th year in a row. Yes, I want early access and some extra packs.
- I was able to flip and invest my way to getting every card this year. However, I find it tedious and I don't enjoy it. I'm going to try and just use the cards I get from packs and from playing BR/RS/Events.
- I'll explore any new game modes and give them a "test-drive".
Regarding #2 - if I do pull a super-expensive LS card on the first weekend, I do reserve the right to sell it. I don't consider that "flipping"
-
My life-status change -- marriage and inheriting 2 teen stepdaughters -- coincides with MLBtS sucking hard for 2 straight years and it getting booted from Gamepass. Plus, the only change to franchise seems to be free agency...? So, I'm almost certainly out.
-
#1 First year in a while where I'm not working full-time on Early Access weekend. Can't wait to spend hours ... building my annual spreadsheet during Debut weekend.
#2 Should be easier(?) this year with no sets/seasons. We'll see how that plays in real-life, but theoretically shouldn't be as tedious.
As for me, I'm looking forward to RttS/Diamond Dynasty streams to see how much the college game (and specifically LSU) is integrated. Whatever LSU stuff is in there is probably where I'm headed first.

Good for you! I married my wife 27 years ago, inheriting one and three year-olds. I just officiated at my stepson's wedding.

If anyone builds a better spreadsheet than me, it’s you. You keep absolutely every detail logged. I’m still trying to figure out how to access the Inventory API without writing an extension. That’s the only automation I’m missing and have been relying on Showzone scraping my inventory for the data.
I’m still on the fence with 25. S1 wore me out last year and I stopped playing until the New Year.
After my heart attack last year, my life has been flipped upside down, and nothing is the same anymore. Since my risk is too high for bypass, I have to focus on building new arteries in my heart. That means a lot of exercise and no more sitting around. It’s cut my game time drastically.
I’m bummed 25 is not on gamepass. In the past, I’ve preordered for the PS, and bought copies for the Switch, and later XBX (usually for around $10). I’ve played it on gamepass until I bought my XBX copy (I like the feel of the XBox controller more). I know buying three copies is insane, but I was able to play whenever we visited our kids or travelling on the road.
Lately, I’ve been playing TA in 24 and absolutely loving the enormous amounts of XP, packs, and cards I’m getting. I just may wait to buy 25 until it goes on sale and begin playing in 2026.
If I get 25, it will be on XBX, and it will be during one of their sales.

I pre-ordered 2021,22,23,and 24 but I'll just pay the 69.99 and save 30 bucks this year...unleess maybe bonds is in the legends trailer
Last year the combo of server issues and having the cap right away just killed it for me and im like why am I paying extra and then being capped like a child?
So Idk, will Def buy the game but not motivated for the early access with how things were in 24
I typically play online but try to complete everything... I like having goals and accomplishing them
-
Definitely getting the preorder. I like the early access (even though the servers are a nightmare every year and that really kills some of the fun). I used to really enjoy RTTS but it got stale after a two or three years of the same exact thing. Hopefully they have revamped it substantially this year. Otherwise, I'll just do my usual offline grind. Looks like there's a new mode that will either take the place of Conquest or just add another game mode to explore. So that should be fun too.
I've been training for a race on April 5... so that means I'll probably just train up until March 13 and then take 22 consecutive "recovery days."
-
The Wife and Kids are going to go see extended family for spring break which is during early access weekend - I normally don't pay the extra but knowing I could play all weekend completely uninterrupted is very tempting.
-
I don’t pay to play early, I would rather wait and see what bugs there is at launch for early access then pick up the game when it comes out for everyone. Plus watching content creators play so I can figure out what to start with when I get the game. Normally I save my birthday money to buy it and it helps because my birthday is on Friday so don’t have to wait that long afterward to getting it

Until you hit the XP Cap.

I figured I'd spin up a RTTS character while waiting for the 2025 version. Up until 2020, RTTS was the only mode I played. What I see this year is yes, it has grown stale. The other thing, at least for 2024, is that the stats are bonkers. I used to play on All-Star difficulty, hit about .350 per year with maybe 30-40 HRs per season. This year, I bumped up to Hall of Fame, and at the All-Star break, I'm at .345 with 53 HRs (almost 43% of my hits). Maybe playing DD has just upped my game, but... nah. That can't be it.
I'm on my beloved Pirates in my 2nd season. Even though we have Skenes, added Seiya Suzuki, Pete Alonso, and Brent Rooker, we're still 4 games under .500. So that part is 100% accurate.
-
It doesn’t stop you from playing. Some people don’t care about the cap.

I am doing exactly this in 25 too.
I started in 21 and was not able / did not understand the market good enough to make that much stubs to be able to get all the cards (or they were not available).
I did better in 22 and 23, collecting every card. As of the 24 game … I stopped flipping late august and as of right now I have every card and prox. 20M stubs sitting around with about 700 unopened standard packs and 27 vault pa cks. That is kinda boring … Therefore I will only play with the packs and cards I get from the packs. I will not invest in cards and only get them for collections and/or to make my team better for the task ahead (events, ranked, weekend, …)
What do you do with your stubs? - I was able to flip and invest my way to getting every card this year. However, I find it tedious and I don't enjoy it. I'm going to try and just use the cards I get from packs and from playing BR/RS/Events.

This year I ended up with every card, and I have less than 1m stubs. So... I'm happy with that. Efficient for a change...

First time in 9 years I'm not getting the game on release. Unless in the next month they show me some new features I think i'm just tired of the same DD modes.
Pretty much the same programs, moments, conquest, etc... I wish they overhauled everything or offered some more new DD modes to keep the game fresh.
I'll probably end up getting it up when it goes on sale too.

Already pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition. Im home from work by noon every day so i'll be watching the streams over the next month if they're doing Twitch drops. By launch, i'll have nearly 100 packs to open (35 Twitch, 20 digital deluxe, 21 Now/Later, diamond choice, 20th Anniversary, 5 gold choice) and i'll work on putting together (hopefully) a solid squad on day 1.

If they actually give us all those packs. I haven't received any claimed Twitch Packs in about two years.

I've never had an issue with my Twitch packs or Scouting Report packs. You may wanna check to make sure you're still connected

I will spend day one on the Negro Leagues unlocking all the stadiums & cards available at launch.
Then I will hit all the offline DD stuff like USA Conquest, Moments, ect.
Then I’ll head into RS with whatever team I’ve assembled.
