Wow ... Rickey Handerson passed away.
-
He will be my leadoff hitter today in honor of his great legacy
-
@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN dude a man just died have some [censored] respect
-
This is an absolute shock from out of left field. Wow.
I'll never forget being amazed at him getting 100+ stolen bases.
Fun Fact - There was a trophy in MLB '11 The Show, where you had to get 130 stolen bases in any mode, in one season.
I think I got it by creating a 99 overall CAP, and simulating a season!!
Memories!
I'll never forget how big he was on the Yankees, and later in his career with my Mets. What a talent. -

The New York Post is the oldest continually operating newspaper in the United States. It is one of the finest and most reliable newspapers remaining in the United States. In terms of their independent brand of true journalism, they scooped the major news media networks and other papers on several critically important stories in the last several years, including many where they were widely accused of corruption by other media outlets, but upon full review, the Post was conclusively shown to have been entirely honest in their reportage.<
No, itβs not. It has a lousy rep for accuracy, not to mention it belongs to Rupert Murdoch, who owned the scandal-ridden News of the World and currently owns Fox βNews,β not known for accuracy.

Rickey was a good, solid player in the two separate stints that he had with my San Diego Padres. I still love the quote that the late Tony Gwynn credited to the just past Rickey Henderson on a Spring Training bus in 1996 when a Padres employee asked if he (Rickey) had tenure, '"No, I don't have tenure, I have eighteen-year.'" The man was one of my favorite players and a great consummate teammate. May he rest in peace!

@xsdert34_PSN
Also, I think he broke Lou Brockβs career stolen base record while with the Padres. Weβll miss Rickey. -
Haha- for the win.
-
@markemark_NSW no he did it with the as in 91 he played for like 12 more years

I've seen worse. When Joe Morgan died, there was a thread started as an RIP post which turned into a bunch of people debating who had a worse swing than him. Fernando died and people jumped on the "we need a tribute program or a free card" bus. With the way the forums been this year, figured id beat the whiners and bitches to the punch.
Literally any time, and you can search this, someone passes away, there are posts about programs and cards and gimme this and that. GFY.

@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN don't try to justify being and asshole
-
I agree they should definitely give us a free card like when Fernando died

Correct. Here is a video from MLB the day he broke the record. Besides the fact he's wearing an A's uniform, you hear the voices of Bill King and Lon Simmons, who were two spectacular announcers in those days for the A's. (And a Giants fan just said that.)

@beatlesnews_PSN
I guess youβre right. Didnβt realize that he played so many years after passing Brock. -
@markemark_NSW
Turns out Rickey became the all-time leader in runs and walks in 2001 with the Padres. That must have been what I was thinking about him doing with San Diego. Bonds eventually broke his walks record, but Rickey still has the most runs.
