My Hal Newhouser has suddenly been playing noticeably worse for no apparent reason. He was nasty when I got him, but he suddenly started to let up many home runs even though he has 99 HR/9. His fastball seems to have lost velocity. I'm thinking they intentionally made him play worse because he was so overpowered. Has this been happening to anyone else?

HR/9 matters zero online. Sounds like you’re just facing better opponents.

That is false; HR/9 absolutely do matter online. When you have a pitcher w/ low HR/9 they let up a ton of dingers. And no it's not that I'm facing better opponents his fastball is noticeably worse.

Yeah they took homeruns per 9 out. Bottom line is players catch up with his fastball

They experimented with making the HR/9 Stat matter last year, and it was universally panned. So they undid that (also last year), and HR/9 is a sim stat again

It's already stated above. They removed Hr/9 as a determining stat online last year. It has zero impact on a pitchers in game performance.

Ya swung and missed, much like people facing Hal before they got used to him.

Also, people start getting better players and pick up pitchers deliveries better throughout the year. Kershaw was unhittable at the start of last year and as the year progressed people started hitting him better and better.

Oh I had no idea. I just assumed that if they put stats in then they would matter lol. Why did they take it out?

because hitting was horrible with everyone basically having a full pitching staff and bullpen full of high HR/9 players

Oh. I don't think I understand. Why is that bad? Why is it bad to have a bullpen w/ high HR/9 players rather than, say high K/9?

It drastically reduced Exit velocities, so you'd get a lot of lineouts and flyouts. Far more than you see now
