Halloween Program and Mandatory Showdown

New showdowns give you like 25 outs to get 3 runs or something. If you have a hard time and still want to complete you can always list draft fast guys, bunt to 2nd and then do bunt and runs. With that many outs it should still work fine
-
I do. But if my head isn't into it then I start swinging and not paying attention - end up losing the showdown, getting frustrated, rinse and repeat. I like them and finish them - just sometimes I'm not ready for a straight grind

Agreed that showdowns being mandatory is garbage. There are lots of fake tough guys here that will tear you down and say showdowns are easy. Just ignore or block them as they are clowns that enjoy being jerks. Showdowns wouldn’t be so bad if they allowed you to continue from a fail point and if they didn’t play completely differently from every other game mode. It’s painfully obvious the defensive sliders and pitcher stamina and confidence are juiced up to increase the challenge. Showdowns are by far my least favorite game mode because it plays unnaturally and just feels “off” even when you succeed. Good luck if you choose to keep trying and if not and SDS doesn’t offer any alternative options to complete the program just move on. This year SDS has made a ton of mistakes along the way and have actually managed to make 23 look organized in comparison.

I've also been disconnected from the Show online twice during Showdowns this year.
And since I'm obsessed with Parallels, I can't stand that all the time spent on Showdowns could be better used with my actual team.

Absolute L that the Showdown is mandatory. Hoping SDS fixes this. The whole point is to let people play the way they want. Giving players options, even if it takes a little longer. Making a showdown mandatory to finish a program isn’t right.
I'll be honest, I believe when they say play the way you want that they were only ever referring to the main XP path since XP is gained everywhere.
I failed the Showdown on my first attempt. I chalked it up to me having a bad night. I don't know if I will try again. There are multiple programs that I have not finished because they would require me to play in ways I don't really enjoy. I don't expect them to change the program for me though.
The thing is this is a game and it's supposed to be FUN. From some of the comments on this board in the last couple of days, mandatory showdowns for some people aren't fun. I'm not asking to ban showdowns. Just don't expect me to go after them every time.

I don't know why they're now going away from a good formula that worked (you CHOOSE between a Showdown and multiple missions) and now making them mandatory.
Makes absolutely no sense, especially at this point in the game cycle.

All they need to do is add a repeatable use Halloween cards pxp

I don't understand why people hate showdown so much. When it was first introduced it was a headache. But it has gotten easier and easier every year. You could have finished showdown in the time it took to make this post.
Stop being a disingenuous asshole.
No, showdowns can NOT be completed in the time it took you to post this.
In fact, they typically take 30 minutes+ which is the big problemYou don't get to use your own cards and its tedious to get through
And if you have a bad run on a mid/late stage you just completely wasted your time with nothing to show for itOn top of that they inexplicably cost a tiny amount of stubs, which granted I don't personally care about but its just unnecessary.
Every single time I play a showdown I wish I was playing any other game mode. To me there are zero positives.
-
Whoever told you that playing your way was a thing? Its just a fact of life you're gonna have to get used to. You're not gonna get everything the easy way. Sometimes you gotta do stuff you dont wanna do.
-
I did it, beat the showdown and if I can beat it anyone can. Load up on lefties.
Trout wins it with a sharp single to right field though. It was my lefties, Soto, Nootbar, Mullins, and Jose Ramirez that did the heavy lifting though.
This 99 ALCS Soto is a cheat code, everything he hits is extra bases

I didn't really like that the first showdown was score 7 runs. Let's maybe tighten it up a bit.
That said, showdowns should be probably be an optional thing, because we all have one pitcher we struggle against, and if they decide to make showdowns a requirement for most programs, that's gonna be an issue.
(btw, congrats if you hit 600 ft bombs on every pitcher who throws 103mph fastball, followed up with a 71mph off speed pitch) -

Aim for simple base hits that move the runners along, then when it's 6-6 and you have that's say 10 outs left
Then aim for fences, or try to hit the ball hard on the ground. Pick a speed player like Cruz and steel 2nd and 3rd, from there it's a simple base hit or fly ball to win

The showdown being mandatory sucks, I ended up completing it though as one of the only ones I have completed because I’m terrible at this game. I don’t feel like doing a whole bunch of conquest stuff even if it is easy, but I also don’t need Vlad, so I’m not really going to complain too much

I don't need Vlad either, but I'm at 96 points and might as well finish the program. It is November now, and the real-life season has ended. I'll play season 4, and still want to play videogane ball, but for how much longer with all these 99's now.

This Halloweek showdown was the easiest one this year, by far. Granted, I've done them all except the extreme (didn't need the points).
I've done the run it back showdown about 20 times to get the season 2 vault pack. I've failed at least 10 times on that one as well, sometimes the CPU is a beast on all-star.
My suggestion is to draft switch hitters or in this case, lefties, and get the hero time and rally time boosts, anything that boosts exit velocity. Take pitches and if you get a slow guy on first base, substitute a 85+ speed guy and steal second so you don't get a double play. Those are rally killers

This.
The big thing is to not get frustrated and swing out of your shoes whenever the perfect-perfect / good swing outs start piling up. There is so much margin of error on these missions that it's still easy to overcome with patience.

I finally tried it and beat it, although there were some hairy moments. Especially with Carrasco. I was early on everything!!!
I suggest take mostly lefties, unless your bad righty-righty. I took David Fry, because that card is money. He won it with a walk-off oppo against Lee Smith, who is tough!
I also took J-Rod, for his speed, yet he got a clutch double to win an earlier round.
Grab speedy commons early. Greg Jones of Colorado was on my bench all the way!
Pause and relax if you have to. Try sitting forward. Sit back if need be. Even try batting standing up if you have to. That's what I did for some Extreme Moments! It works at times.
It truly isn't too hard, but I can see where players can struggle. Every pitcher is tricky, but beatable. -
I did it twice because I have to accounts and beat it the 1st time but on my other account I failed the 1st time but beat it my 2nd try in bed
-
if they didnt have a cost i would like them more
-
You make all the stubs back plus more, everyone should have enough stubs now to do showdowns. Lots of packs with cards to be sold
