This post is mainly directed to SDS. Will they see it? Who knows. If they do, will they consider it? Who knows.
But if they want casuals to play online, and I'm assuming they do, then they need to Make Online Great Again.
You may ask; "How do they do that?".
Well, here are my suggestions.
-
Get rid of the option for the batter to see what pitches have been throw by clicking R2. They can post it on the feedback menu that's in the bottom left corner of the screen.
-
If they can't do the above suggestion, and must keep it to having to click. Either make it that they can only click it twice during an AB. One at the beginning and once after it gets to a 3-2 count. Or have it that EVERYTIME you click R2, whether it's for a split second or if it's for the alloted time, it takes 10 secs off your pause time. That way people won't click it after EVERY pitch.
-
Get rid of bunt dancing. They can accomplish this by either only allowing you to do it once BEFORE the pitch is thrown. Or as the same as holding R2. Each time you bunt dance; it takes 10 secs off your pause timer.
-
Get rid of Created Stadiums being allowed to be used online. If you want to play in a stadium that has 2 ft high out field walls or thst has small dimensions; save thst crutch for offline play. Sane with Shield Woods and all those other 'crutch' stadiums.
-
If you MUST allow Createf Stadiums and Stadiums with 5,000+ ft elevation (minus Coors) then have the option to allow the player, that doesn't want to play ib that stadium the option to quit, PRIOR to the first pitch being thrown, without obtaining a loss. The other player can then decide if they want to continue to play vs the cpu, where the stats don't count, or start a new game.
-
Rain games. 9 times out of 10 I can safely assume people pick rain because it messes with the connection. Same as above. If it's a rain game; give the option to quit, prior to first pitch, without penalty.
-
Freeze Offs. I haven't experienced one of these in awhile. But some say they're still rampant. Honestly, the only way to fix this is by having dedicated servers. Unless SDS can code something that the game knows that after a certain time, no action (batter or pitcher) has taken place and the game ends and is marked as not played. Meaning nobody gets a loss or a win.
-
Dashboards. I can honestly say that 9 times out of 10, when a HR is hit, the game knows it's a homerun by the animation. Especially a No Doubter. Code the game to make any run, that would be scored, count BEFORE the hitter crosses the plate. Or code it that the game doesn't 'end' until thst hitter crosses the plate.
Come on SDS. MOGA.

Honestly the best thing they can do is stop trying to nudge people to play online who don't want to
But if they must...
Improve BR and Event matchmaking. Someone who wins less than half their BR games should absolutely never play someone who has done flawless or is world series before at least 5 wins.Stop with the 4k pxp/40H per run mission nonsense.
Stop with the 200H/100 run mission nonsense
Change event to be the following:
Scale all the rewards by 2 (so instead of 15 wins its 30 stars)
Give 1 star for complete game loss
Give 2 star for win
Give 3 star for come from behind winThat said, I will probably never play online again, if they release too many cards I want on those tracks Ill just quit.
This is 2024 and they really should get with the times that a large portion of gamers just want to relax when they play, or need to pause at any time to do parenting, etc. I think they would be better off focusing on making online play a better experience for those who enjoy it (which a lot of your post would apply to).

Better servers, consistent timing windows, and new hitting engine.

Something like this at least rewards my time and keeps me playing the game.

This looks like a laundry list of online players pet peeves disguised as reasons casuals don't play online. Most of us who don't want to play online won't be converted to online players by any of these changes.
-
They could fix all of those things and I still wouldn't want to play Online. Because playing online isn't why I play video games.
-
I won't play online because I just don't have the skills. And right now, especially, I don't want to face 99 Aaron Judge in a game (especially since I don't have him). (Also, I just picked up the game from PS Plus.) But the fact that you guys that are great online and can grind up cards way before I can (if I can at all) is irritating. Which is why I'm not playing events at all.

There is a group of people that might play online more if it was more fun for them, but in general you are right.
I want the rewards in online, but playing online pushes me away from the game. And this year's game isnt nearly as robust for offline play as last year's.
