Since no one really knows how these cards will play, which have good swings etc, I thought this would be a useful place to keep track of what cards are best to go for first.
I haven't tried them all but here's what I think so far:-
Byron Buxton SP - Imagine a similar, fast windup like Tyler Glasnow combined with fastball outlier. Yeah I'll be trying to parallel him up fast.
-
Bryce Harper C - It's like a normal Harper card but that can play catcher. So yeah. It's good.
-
Kenley C - When someone mentioned he has the Polanco swing, I had to try him. I might have to use either him or Harper as DH.
-
Mark McGwire RP - Nice, smooth delivery. No outlier but still good velocity. Solid bullpen piece.
-
Lance Lynn 1B - Excellent switch hitter. Think of him as a poor man's Action Figure Tony Clark.
-
DeGrom SS - Decent swing but nothing amazing.
-
Dontrelle DH - Nice swing, but lower attributes.
-
Machado RP - Nothing special on paper, but I liked using him quite a bit
-
Riley Greene RP - favorite lefty RP in this drop.
-
Charlie Blackmon RP - I see the potential there, but I threw a mistake and he lost on a walk off for my first Conquest loss on Rookie/Vet in months.
Used but didn't really like:
K. Crawford
Trout
Rivera
R. Johnson - he's like a poor man's Judge and I suck with Judge (big strike zone Righty with slowish swing)
Hunter Greene
Bob GibsonI have obtained but haven't used yet:
Nola
Mays
Halladay
Gallen
B. Crawford
Cronenworth
Elly
Skenes
Greinke
Heim
Wynn
Sabathia
Cy Young
Nolan RyanPost here your first impressions of other cards, so we know who to go for next.

The only ones I can see myself using are the position players who are out of their normal position. Konerko at C, Harper at C, Mays at 3B, etc. I have no plans to ever use the pitchers who are in the field unless I'm grinding toward a specific TA or stat goal.
I did have a weird "I'm done for the night" moment yesterday. In Showdown, I hit a no-doubter foul HR with Kenley Jansen off Mark McGwire. Then on the next pitch I hit a no-doubter fair ball HR with Kenley. This is after McGwire struck out a couple position players in a row with a filthy slider or cutter or something. I felt like I was in bizarro world so I had to call it a night and I spent the next hour coloring in the Universal Monsters Official Coloring Book. I do strongly recommend this coloring book for all ages.
EDIT: Check it out!

I have not used really any yet but Lance Lynn being a switch hitting hitter with power is pretty awesome!
-
I haven't gotten any of the TA cards yet but pulled lance lyne out of the headliner pack and got Brandon Crawford from the free OOP pack from the XP reward path, excited to use them both
-
Not a fan of the OOPsies, but Roy Halladay as the Super Utility guy is gonna be cool
-
I feel like Blackmon and Greene will be the ones people use the most once Better cards come out, because we are always desperate for good left handed relievers.

True. I've held tight to my CORE Andrew Miller at every restart!
So far deGrom at SS, but I have to maneuver to keep J-Roll (only plays SS) and Elly's MA cards in. -
SS Grienke has a great swing and soloid defense.
SS DeGrom has probably the best swing.
C Kenley has Jorge Polanco’s swing and Pop Time quirk, raking with this card offline.
Harper is Harper, always good.
Buxton is filthy and has outlier, control is iffy, but I think all of the pitcher cards have mid control.
I like Nolan in Center, decent speed, solid defense, and a solid swing. Those are the ones I’ve used the most. Just unlocked Trout and have a few conquest games to try as a Two Way player.
-
I realize it's based on a players' real history of playing certain positions when they were younger, but there are WAY too many SS (and quite a few C too).
-
Mariano Rivera and Jacob deGrom
-
Not a fan of any of them really, but i guess top choice is the Pete Crow-Armstrong Starting Pitcher
-
I've only used Crawford. He had my worst start of the year for conquest, giving up 4 runs. But then he has been fine after that
Harper and Sabathia were my extreme showdown mvps
-
Trout. Batting 1000 with 2 Homers and 1 inning pitched 0 era.
Small sample size tho -
McGwire ten Ks was so easy, smooth delivery and will be adding that card to bullpen

Ironically coloring is one of the activities the therapists had me do to help with my stroke. I'm right handed and am still only 20-30% back to full capacity with that hand and coloring helps with muscle/nerve memory and control. It also helps with grip strength and control.
It's weird all the things that they have for OT. Yahtzee, Battleship, Rubik's Cube, Darts (magnetic), etc that help with control, grip, and strength.
I even tried out an old Operation game the game where you had to put shaped plastic pieces into a board before the timer went off and it sprung the board. I think it wad Concentration.
I'm going to show this book to my OT.

I've been using Crawford and he's been amazing for me so far almost have him to P2, as for lance Lynn I only have 1 hit with him
-
Most of the OOP hitters qualify for the Cornerstone O’Neill Cruz boost. Haven’t checked the others yet.
-
Randy Johnson has been Clutch hits galore.
Machado and Blackmon are insane out of the pen during the new Comquest map. Either on All-Star or Veteran, they have batters flailing 🤪 -
The De La Cruz moment was fun while it lasted. He has outlier slider and fastball. Just in that short time that slider was really nasty.
-
I'm editing my OP with newer info. A lot based on your recommendations.
I still haven't used any of them enough to get any to a P2. I have division squads to move through the program, so guys like DeGrom and Harper I'm using less now.
It sounds like as a Red Sox fan I should try Kutter Crawford, but there's so many SS!
