I'd like to give SDS the benefit of the doubt

but I can't seem to think of ways this suspected OOP card series will work.
Nobody wants a 95 OVR Mariano Rivera as an SP or a position player. They want him as a closer.
Same with a 95 ovr Randy Johnson. Would you rather have him as a dominant starter or as a hitter that doesn't even belong in the field.
SDS HAS to have something up their sleeves concerning this upcoming new card series.
I know they messed up ALOT this year.
But do you think they would actually 'shoot themselves in the foot' releasing a card series that could potentially be worse than rhe Kaiju series and would be a complete joke?
This new card series could turn into the 'final nail in the coffin' for ALOT of their player base.
Let's hope they know what they're doing.

I'm with ya buddy. This is the make or break part of the cycle for them, with Madden, NHL, and the new CoD set to drop all within the S3 timeframe. I'm not saying those are gonna be world beater games by any stretch, but they're all games people may flock to. There's gotta be something coming down the pipe here that we're not seeing, otherwise it could be bad.
"But do you think they would actually 'shoot themselves in the foot' releasing a card series that could potentially be worse than rhe Kaiju series and would be a complete joke?"
100% they would. They've been largely tone-deaf this entire release cycle. From the absolutely dreadful "prop" additions to SC, to bringing back Sets and Seasons which were near unanimously panned across the player base, to overcorrecting on gameplay tweaks.

I was trying to think if this was positions players played in minors, college, high school, or maybe once in the majors but I don’t know. Like a Nolan Ryan relief pitcher when he was with the Mets partly or Bryce Harper as a catcher in college
-
Maybe we can get an out of position live content stream where we get new people talking and the normal talking people are quiet.
-
@X-FREEZE-OFF-X_PSN Well, it’s a card series that will be irrelevant in a few weeks. I think the idea is for something fun and different to bridge the gap to the more spicy end game content.
-
I’d bet on one of the cornerstone captain being for out of position players.
-
I could see this being a decent idea if it were more sparse, and things that actually happened (i.e. a 2nd Base Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs...ah, what a nice fantasy baseball exploit that in 2017.) or some other outliers, but just taking a random player and assigning them whatever position is just kinda nonsense.
-
All these comments about S3 are not encouraging me to fire up 24 to play it again. I guess I'll just keep "enjoying" the game via proxy...that is reading what you chaps have to say about it.

I feel like people are making a big deal out of nothing. They wanted something new they got it so now they have to complain about it

The only saving grace is that this TA is only gonna last 6 weeks and we can use season 1-2 cards for offline grinding. My guess would be that the 95s in chapter 1 will be the 99s in chapter 2 at their regular positions. Chapter 1 is basically for collections anyway.

I hope you're wrong. Otherwise we have a 95 SS Kutter Crawford followed by a 99 SP Kutter Crawford.
For a celebrated organization like the Red Sox, that would be absolutely pathetic.
-
Imagine an End Game Randy Johnson as an outfielder.
-
@X-FREEZE-OFF-X_PSN These aren’t endgame cards and aren’t intended to be.
-
If they want you to use the cards they will release a Captain for those OOP cards. Also, if there are only 3 wild cards during this portion of season 3 then that could put more pressure on players to use these cards. Trout played SS and I think Trout will be the Angels OOP player.

I think you're high on copium. There is no grand plan. It's a lazy and stupid idea ripped off of EA and 2K, implemented even worse. I honestly don't know if I will ever touch the game again, and my playtime over the last 8 years could literally be measured in months. This shows exactly how little they care about, well, honestly, anything, anymore. Say what you will about EA, but the people making NHL at least CARE. They fail (a lot), but they DO try. SDS hasn't tried to do anything in two years other than make money and they aren't even any good at that.

I think Santana boost just got meta again
-
@AdeptOfMemory_PSN I doubt it. The boost sucks now and it doesn’t even help many of the guys people will wild card for it.
-
I’m starting to wonder if we’re even getting cornerstone captains this season. That would be a big let down.
