The New TA Conquest Map

@samguenther1987_PSN What a great idea.

What might make this map interesting os if SDS puts a team captain 87's behind each strong hold instead of a jersey.
Say for Detroit 87 Prince Fielder, that way everyone can work towards a Core card collection.
These were too rare this year to have any place in the game
-
@nymets1987_PSN Would be a good way to give us the rest of them. No reason to hold them back anymore.
-
I’m assuming this coincides with the out of position player series for TA. We’re just making stuff up now

No your right, SDS will probably put them all in a pack or something and ask for 30k stubs for each one.
I just thought it would be a great idea and would make the fan base at least a bit happy.
-
@samguenther1987_PSN I’d be perfectly happy buying them at this point. I just want some way to get them.

I would not be happy buying them... imo they totally botched them this year
-
Chapter 1 is only 6 weeks so im guessing this map with probably be worth 30K minimum for every division....unless they drastically shorten the TA paths.

All I know is this better be semi loaded not talking shark map loaded but dang close to that
Loaded with what? Any packs with S2 cards would be worthless and they haven't released any S3 packs yet.
-
@nymets1987_PSN Yes, but at this point I don’t care how we get them as long as we can.
-
@X-FREEZE-OFF-X_PSN Team Captain packs makes a lot of sense.
-
Not a frequenter of conquest but what's the xp difference from playing the 3 inning matches and just playing it like risk with all the auto plays? I assume significantly less xp....
-
@AdeptOfMemory_PSN I don’t think you get any xp for the simulated games.
-
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
Whether they do one gigantic map or break it up into 3 maps; it's the same amount of games.

Nobody really plays all the games. The only games you have to play are stronghold games. Most people will only play those game, simming all the other non-stronghold squares.
Sure you would get more gameplay XP for it in the long run but that is roughly 300 3-inning games you would have to play through instead of just 30.

In fact USA map is one of the easiest ones to complete, you can play every game on Rookie if you were so inclined. If nothing on Veteran with ease.

I think these forums (and, even to a greater degree, Reddit and Twitter) can quickly devolve into hyperbolic SDS hatred. While I can't always support every decision SDS makes, I usually give them props for trying something different (even if it's not a great idea).
But this? Come on, guys... if you want people to stop saying things like "SDS just copies and paste content from year to year," you have to come up with something better than this. I actually would have strongly preferred (but still not liked) if you just updated the normal US Conquest map and applied it to TA3. That would have been lazy, but it would have made sense. Now you have the Twins in Seattle, the White Sox in LA, the Reds in Denver... what is even the point of having a map shaped like America if you're going to do this? Why not just create a giant rectangle if you're just going to throw teams in at random?
I assume it's because they want it to take longer to complete each division. We can't just travel to the left side of the map and knock out (most) of the AL and NL West. But that's just a kick in the nuggets to your dwindling fanbase.
I want to defend you, SDS, but you gotta meet us halfway. Even a quarter of the way. Just give us 10% effort and people will have your back. But this is the laziest thing you've ever done. Remember like 3 or 4 years ago when you made individual conquest maps for all 30 teams? Oh, how the semi-mighty have fallen.
-
So...in this dumb new conquest map...do the home stadiums change?
And what did the Yankees do to deserve to be shipped off to Oakland? I'm not even a fan, but that just seems cruel and unusual. Shoulda put the White Sox there.
-
I don't understand why people have a problem with this conquest map or this out of position card series, I think it'll be nice using these cards in different positions other than their original position
-
While Diamond Dynasty is pretty absurd in general, it's always been fun to collect the cards and be able to play with nostalgic players. But the out of position thing...I haven't looked into it enough, but I don't see any correlation. Maybe if the position players being turned into pitchers had actually pitched, or the pitchers had played a position (I saw someone mention Trevor Hoffman, go ahead and make him a SS or 3B). Or Kenley Jansen as a catcher. But to just throw a random player to a random position (Which, at first glance seems to be what's happening), that's just blah.
I'd rather a fictional character thing. Or some random, ridiculous theme a la the secret characters from NBA Jam.
Hell, give us celebrities or presidents or cartoon/movie/tv characters. I'd rather bring in Rick Vaughn to close out a game or put in Porky Pig at catcher than use Randy Johnson as an outfielder or whatever.
