I really wish this game wasn't region locked

I have never played it but watch KevinGohd's video on it the other day there was nothing that jumped out and said Next Gen to me. Quite the contrary actually.
It may be a very good game but nothing in the graphics or presentation really impressed me.

It's all in Japanese. Pass

People are still going to complain. You can make the perfect game , they will complain

Not sure how you say that since I have the PS4 version

Folks, this lie isn't going to endure regardless of how often it is told! SDS HAS been making MLB The Show for next generation consoles for at least three release versions now. This is precisely why there are two downloadable versions of the game. One version is for the older consoles and the other is for the latest ones.
Moreover, it has already been publicly revealed that MLB has directed that the title continue to be released in a version that works on the legacy consoles. That's why that version of the game remains available.
Frankly, it appears more like some people just cannot accept the fact that a company can work up two different versions of a game title. Or, perhaps some people just enjoy seeing folks with legacy platforms be forced to give up the game or upgrade.
Finally, the two versions of MLB The Show are not even close to looking the same. The very modeling and texturing features some folks keep complaining about were significantly updated for the next gen console game version. So, for the umpteenth time, the game is not being held back! Proof of all this is in the many screen posts people make taken from the legacy version and compared to the next gen versions. They are night and day different.

I was sure you needed a Japanese account to play this game unless it changed recently

Are we just comparing it to previous Show's or other sports titles because this game is drastically underperforming in visual quality compared to NBA, Madden, FIFA, or UFC

If you really believe that the graphics quality of MLB 24 is not significantly better than MLB 23, especially with respect to player faces and hair, then there is really no point in discussing this with you.
You can offer your opinion that it doesn't match up with other game titles, but that's not a comparison that others who have played those other games have related, with them saying MLB The Show is doing pretty well in comparison.

In regards to gameplay the Show is better than the other games, but visually it is stale and I can clearly see assets from the PS3/4. It's a visually dated game and that's undeniable.
Those PS3 flyovers are particularly disappointing along with those low res exterior stadium renders.

The show isn’t better than NBA 2K in terms or gameplay, I’m sorry but that’s just not true

Yeah, MyNBA really does put the Show to shame, I just wish online multiplayer wasn't a dumpster fire.

The issue with this is that the bare functionality of the game is built using that same legacy code, with current gen things layered overtop. It's the same issue EA has had the past three years with their NHL franchise, separate releases but the base game is still prior-gen more or less. Now with 25 they're finally ditching the legacy releases...that being said if MLB is forcing the issue, SDS has no choice...and until they can build a game for the current generation of consoles from the ground up the same bugs and glitches will exist.

With how little the NFL seems to care about the quality of Madden, I think certain people may be exaggerating how much pressure MLB is actually putting on SDS.
As long as MLB sees revenue being generated will they actually care what platform it's on?
Sony is making these choices not MLB.

False. You haven't played many games with this kind of comment. Yes, you will get complainers but their will always be an overwhelming lean to one side or the other. SDS and the show gets every bit of criticism it deserves. No one shits on Balders Gate, Elden Ring, Last of Us PT1, Uncharted 1-2, etc.
Go to steam games and read reviews. Go anywhere else instead of this God forsaken game community site and you'll see why SDS gets the hate it does. -

LMAO! WHAT?!?!? I literally played 23 because 24 was so [censored] bad in the first 4 months and I literally could not tell a a difference and I play on PS5. They graphics didn't improve for [censored]. It's the same [censored] game. If you think it improved YOU are delusional.

Hopefully Concord being a massive bomb will encourage Sony to reinvest in all their own IP's

You think they will invest back into SDS? Idk. Sports games are niche and I don't think NCAA 25 was enough to boost that. Could be wrong though. Just don't think sports games outside of FIFA or racing will do numbers to get attention from Sony

Yeah a little too much wishful thinking
