Server Connection Troubleshooting Help please
-
Since the game's release, I have been consistently experiencing games being dropped because of server errors. I was finally able to hear back from a member of SDS and they gave me the following recommendations:
- Double-check the clock and date settings on the PS4 as there have been issues with that
- Change the DNS settings to Primary 8.8.8.8 and Secondary to 8.8.4.4
- Make sure ports 10000 and 11000 are open bidirectionally on your router
I completed 1 and 2 but I am struggling with 3. The ports recommended on the PSN website are
TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480
UDP: 3478, 3479I am by no means a tech wizard at all but my confusion lies in the vague port recommendations from SDS (no TCP or UDP included so I assume it means both?) and the PSN port recommendations do not include either 10000 or 11000. Can anyone help me understand this or point me in a better direction? I have googled, youtubed and everything and I cant make 1+1=2
Thanks guys

Make sure if possible your PS4 is hard wired with Ethernet cord to your router....alot of the server issues r on them unless u got weak internet especially wifi

You’re screwed. They gave me the same instructions and it didn’t do a [censored] thing. I’ve spent hours with my ISP determining there was no issue with my internet or WiFi connection. For starters I can play SW Battlefront with 40 players no issue. No one from SDS is responding anymore. You’re not alone, we simply are the minority and they aren’t doing jack about it. I’m having to player solely from a WiFi HotSpot on my phone, even for Moments, Conquest, and Showdown.

I am hard-wired. I am noticing the server issues occur mostly after 8:00 pm EST as well. I am sure server traffic is playing a role in it but if that were the case then wouldn't everyone be experiencing it?
It is just frustrating because of the timing of the server drop. It has happened 3 times in the middle of the final boss for Inning 2 showdown.

Did your follow up response from them thank you for your patience while they figure out a solution and encourage you to contact your ISP?

Yup. They are sending out that same canned response. It’s clearly on their side, but they won’t admit to it because it isn’t affecting the majority of players.
Wild theory, but we’re you in the closed beta by chance?

What would that have to do with it?
Beta could have been running off of a separate server. While I deleted the beta from my PS4, there could be trace data tied to it. TBH, I have no flipping idea, but at this point I have tried everything.
What I do know, I have never had a single issue like this playing online. I've been a loyal Show gamer since TS10. TS19 never had any issues like this for me last year, with the exact same ISP. I can play all other PS4 games online with zero issue. I've swapped 3 modems and 2 routers, same issue persists. This is on the SDS side, and they aren't dealing with it.
-
To be fair, they’re not “dealing with” anything.
-
Cumba5877 and others - OMG it is a breath of fresh air to see someone describe EXACTLY the same situation I've been in since late October last year.
I'm still playing The Show 19, trying to get better before The Show 21 comes out. These lost connections never happened for me from the time I downloaded the game (October 2019) until around October 20th, 2020, and now they happen often, weekly and sometimes more.
I've tried the same port (10000/11000) & DNS stuff and if anything improved it's not tangible. I keep emailing them when issues occur, but I've also thought it was my ISP's fault. Honestly I'm not sure.
I can say that it happens SO much more often in the evenings/night (I live in AZ, so most often after about 9 pm ET). Only a couple disconnects in the afternoons.Sheesh. If this really is on SDS the whole time, and why it's only affecting certain players, that's really disappointing. Any sense of why we few are affected by this and for example the dudes I watch play on YT (and their opponents) seem to never have this problem?
Thanks,
Paul
