Make Willie Mays 99 Core Or Supercharge Him

With how bad the game has been this year would love to see the 99 Willie Mays become a core card for the rest of the year or supercharge his new NGL card dropping on Friday boosted to a 99 for the rest of the year. Let's go SDS!

He's going to be in the program tomorrow.
I said it in the other thread and I will say it in this one. I am against making his 99 card core simply because so few of us were actually able to earn that card.
It would be like saying "we would like to honor this man by only allowing a small minority of our player base to use his 99 card all year".
Supercharging the new card is a better idea since everyone will have the same opportunity to earn that card in a storyline.
I don't know what the proper in game tribute would be but it i think that it is one that everyone, casual or hardcore alike, can earn relatively easily.

A simple solution would be to give the card to everyone in a pack for free.
Also not sure how a program really honors him. Really needs to be a storyline or something.

Tom Seaver, Lou Brock and Joe Morgan all passed away within the same few weeks back in 2020. I remember they had a nice tribute graphic right on the primary DD menu so I would at least expect that for Mays.
I agree with whoever suggested supercharging his upcoming program card. Give him a boost that runs until the trade deadline or something considerable like that.

Since he is a collection boss, he can still be earned all year. Just like anything else, the more you play, the more you earn. Make him Core and be done with it.
Realistically, I doubt they will do anything. They put a graphic on Twitter, that’s probably all they will do.

I put in the work to get him and do not care if people who didn’t get him. It’s a game after all.

@Dolenz64_XBL While I agree with you, you can still collect him. The season 1 collection hasn’t gone away. You’ll just have to spend your stubs.
I wanted the Willie Mays card so badly in Season 1 I focused on collecting Season 1 cards instead of live series. It definitely took me a while but it’s possible.

Thats the rational way to look at it, but sadly thats not the way the internet works. SDS will be flooded with hateful [censored] about how unfair it is, and half of those will be from people that didnt even get willie, they just want to be on the karen train.

Sure, It's possible but it is not likely that those who don't have him yet will ever earn his 99 card.
Neither am I asking that they give everyone a 99 Mays. I am just saying that if they do anything it should be something that is reasonably achievable to all.
All that said I am not expecting anything more than what we get tomorrow in the storyline.

Getting the 99 Mays was an accomplishment. I think it would be awesome if they made it a core card for those who earned him as a tribute to the player.

I like the idea of super charging this new card and I would Super charge it to 95 for a week then bring it down to a 92 until about midway through TA S2 part 2 then bring it back up to 95 or 96 and leave it for the remainder of this season. Then when season 3 starts keep it boosted to 90 then at every TA reveal bump it up -- like this
TA part 1 -- 90
TA part 2 -- 93
TA part 3 -- 97but even as I say this I think they will release a shop card of Mays 93/4 Core making this idea just bloated -- LOL

I earned the new Mays card. Wish it was higher than an 85 but glad that they at least supercharged it to a 93 for a few days. I wish the supercharge was longer or that they slowly ramp up the supercharge over the coming weeks, but honestly I don't expect it.
The storyline was pretty easy to finish and my only disappointment was that they could not get their graphics updated in time and that the game listed him as 1931-Present.

I am highly disappointed as well. What is the harm in just changing his S1 to core? A 99 core card would be used all year, while this 85 will be forgotten in 5 days. Just sad

If SDS wants to do something more to honor him in game then great, I am all for it.
That, at least to me, seems like a totally different scenario than myself and others selfishly asking what benefit do we gain by his death.
