Season 1 Progress update from a casual/semi-casual offline player.
-
Since we have had our last Season 1 update I thought I would look at how I progressed playing the game pretty much the same as I always have. I do what interests me and do my best never force myself to play content I don't want to play.
Here is where I stand as of today and I doubt much will change since there is no more content I want to do.
Hours Played
106For many here that is not a lot of hours. It works out to a little over 8 hours every week. Which I am guessing probably puts me somewhere around the average. But I did everything that I wanted to do and felt was within my reach
XP Earned
623,203This is actually higher than I thought it would be but two programs with 96K in rewards and a double XP weekend this weekend gave me probably 20% of that total. When the goal feels unreachable as it has felt from very early on this season then it kind of zaps the desire to play out of you. This is the first year that I can think of that I did not even reach the first boss pack in the first program.
Completed Content
- I completed every single "Other" program with the exception of the Egg Hunt program
- I only fully completed 2 Team Affinity but have others all over the board, from 0% to 85%
- I did not do any online programs.
Collections
I have just over 150 S1 cards. Even if I add in the 60 or so TA Cards that I don't have and the 5 missing from the Egg Hunt Program I still don't have enough to even get the one card that I would like from the collection, Lou Brock at 230 cards.
Stubs
I currently have 107,211
I have not bought packs but I have bought a few Cardinals that came in packs. These are the biggies
Tommy Edman - Bought for 8,375
Ryan Helsley - Bought for 43,001
Lars Nootbaar - Bought for 35,950
Nolan Gorman - Bought for 24,135
Tommy Pham - Bought for 5,610
Victor Scott - Bought for 11,210
Tink Hence - Bought for 25,400
So that is 153,681 stubs spent just on Cardinal Players alone. Those marked with a money bag were only available in packs. The other two (the cheapest ones) were BR rewards I believe.
I did get luck with a couple early live diamond pulls which I sold immediately and that helped but as someone who does not have any inclination to flip cards or gamble my stubs on roster updates, stubs seem hard to come by. There are so many No-Sell cards this year it definitely hinders stub earning.
Final Thoughts
Speaking strictly on the content side, since I don't play online and have no real issues with offline play, the content has felt weak at best and bad at worst.
After the day 1 content release the Cardinals got a total of 1 card (Pedro Pages) that I could actually earn from an offline program, not counting Team Affinity. And I actually realize that even though most were in packs the Cardinals actually had it better than many other teams.
As someone who never, ever gambles on packs having half the cards hidden in packs really hurts.
What do I expect from Season 2?
Nothing much different. SDS certainly always talks a good game, giving us all hope that things will be better and move faster next season. I will come up one Jump Start goal short of getting my first wild card to start the season and I need to see if the other wild cards seem attainable or whether they will be a chore, buried deep in the XP path. I fully expect the programs and all the extra packs to continue and to be much the same as the first season, maybe with a little better XP or Stub rewards in programs.
I'm still in for the start of season 2 but the game will be on a short leash.

Well written and I hope you Cards fans have a better S2. I am now at the mindset of just making the best of this game that I can. This is my hobby and where I go to get my mind off of everything else.
Baseball is a sport that I like and enjoy my PS5. This is pretty much the only baseball game, so it is, what it is. I go way back with this franchise and will continue playing it, whenever I have time.

@Dolenz64_XBL Thanks … I have over double the time played and flip on my way to work.
I have double the xp and over 400 cards (after 3 years I know how the market plays :))
Conclusion: I suppose, we are both mediocre players … So I guess the progress correlates to „time invested“.
Imo you should be „farther“, hopefully they keep their promise and let you get farther on the reward path quicker -

I hope the real Cards have a better season starting as soon as possible.
The Cardinals got a fair amount of content in season 1. Far less than the Yankees but far more than The Rays. My main complaint is that the majority of them were only in packs.

I have 140 hours and I literally just got Napoli two days ago. This was a card that the common player base supposedly had within a few days. This is NOT a casual come home after long day of work and just play for fun kind of game.
-
If they plan on doing the Season Recap program again, im fine with all the extra packs. I'll just do what i did for season 1 and not buy any.
-
340 hours, 279 collection cards(I have not locked them in yet) and several wheel spins with 108 show plus 15 regular Twitch and soon to be 16 Twitch Esports packs. 97,779 stubs as well. Hopefully the packs yield some good core cards on Friday.

I think we are pretty much the same type of player (casual/semi-casual, though I know you are more skilled than myself). I am going to use your post as a template if you don't mind.
Here is where I stand as of today. I will get a little more XP this week, but not much since double XP ends tomorrow.
Hours Played
252.51 H.M DD, 1.15 H.M Franchise, 19 M RTTS, 10 M Challenge of the WeekI think my hours are about average or a bit above. Since I'm retired, I have the luxury of spending more time on the game than those with jobs and families. I did spend some time in the hospital in April, but my son was here to help out and he played for me when I couldn't (and he wasn't working). I don't expect to spend a lot of time on the game this coming week, but who knows.
XP Earned
1,105,249 (Walker & Rollins)This really surprises me because I wasn't on track to get the first pack. The double XP and the Gehrig program this weekend helped a lot! I would like to get the third pack and I'm about 45K away, but with straight XP, I don't know that I'll make it.
Completed Content
I've completed the S1 TA (all chapters) and all of the Other programs, except for the Egg Hunt. I am 10 points away from finishing that and it takes getting 2 doubles online - so that won't happen. It doesn't matter though, because the last reward is only a Universal Profile Icon - and I don't care about those. I do care about the 4K XP, but I will just have to make it up somewhere else.
Regarding Conquest maps, I need to do the Toronto, Cleveland, St. Louis, Tigers, Apple, TA S1:C3, Nation of Baseball, and Mother's Day maps.
Collections
Starter Collections - finished (who hasn't?)
LS Collection - 22 Teams to finish. I've been buying low priced cards (when they are QS or slightly above) to get the LS collection done. I Haven't pulled any of the high priced diamonds yet.
Hyper Vlad Jr. collection - I have 4 of the cards
Season 1 Awards collection - finished
S1 Collection - I have 285 cards. I took Paige in the first pack. I plan on taking Brett and then Mays as I finish this collection off
I have all of the uniform collections to finish (not even close) and I don't have any of the stadiums to finish that collection. I have finished the bats and socks.Stubs
I have 195,831. I have not purchased any stubs. My amount fluctuates because I've bought cards to finish programs and the LS collections.
I have bought only two packs, during the last flash sale. A Drop 9 Season 1 Vault Choice (Mike Soroka and Jake Burger), and a Chase Pack 5 (LS Jose Ramirez). Were they worth it? Eh.
Final Thoughts
The throttled XP discourages me at this point. I'm disappointed they haven't fixed pulse pitching yet (the pulse meter display sticks after selecting the pitch and the ball lands outside the pulse zone - sometimes on the other side of the box. I submitted tickets for both items early on.
What do I expect from Season 2?
They said we'll get more gameplay XP. I hope it meets previous year's XP rates, but I'm not holding my breath. If it doesn't, I may pack the game up for the year. That's what bugs me the most about this year's game - the rate of earned gameplay XP.

I think that Dolenz its okay for you to have only gotten one boss pack out of 6, but you got zero.
With the vault packs, spring breakout, and pipeline packs finishing TA would get you to Brock, or maybe a cheap gold or two away. But you dont really want to use non NL central cards I guess, and thats fine. Your choice of limitations should keep you from those boss packs. But you probably should have gotten an xp pack boss, or at least be close enough that it seems attainable.
The notion of an xp track is dumb in the first place. I understand it used to be innings, which makes a lot more sense. XP track encourages you to play on rookie in clown stadiums. Im guessing you dont do that it and look where it got you...
I dont feel stubs are THAT hard to come by. I have over 400 cards as NMS with 230K stubs. To be fair, I got Ohtani as a super lucky wheel spin, so without that Id be 70K (but likely wouldnt have bought Skenes and Chourio so back up to 150K). I play a lot though, and do BR tracks for the cards and do the ranked track as well.
My team has I think 13 pack cards, but I either bought those the first few hours they were out, or after they dropped. I did get lucky getting 99 Senga out of the recap program.
-
I'm up to 660,720k, just earned Billy Williams. Definitely further along then I thought I would be but still WAY short of the bosses. I think if they revert XP gains back to prior years levels but keeping the amount of XP required would be the best balance for everyone. I've collected 187 S1 cards...ALMOST made my goal of Al Leiter. Haven't seen a chase pack at all.

I'm at 218 hours, which is way too many. I'm semi-retired, so I can play more than the average player. I think I'm at 1.4m XP's. I do play RS and BR, and there were lots of XPs in there, so I benefited from that. I did get the XP bosses and collected enough to get all 3 collection cards.
I bought a few cards that I wanted. BR gave me 39 additional cards that I could put towards collections.
I agree that content/programs have been lackluster and dull.
That said, I'm looking at "Season/Set 1" as the "year" for me. I will play Season 2, but I can't see myself "completing" anything. I'll probably play more RTTS or MTO to stay "warm".

Since I had my other surgery the 29th and will becin rehab for a month; I probably will skip Season 2

I hope your surgeries are going well and are working for you. Hit the rehab hard.
