Pitching has had many issues this year and I thought of a few way that can help improve them. These issue will address both control and velocity.
- Control
Control in MLB the Show affects the window size that the ball can go in when getting a perfect pitch. This leaves too much RNG to chance and doesn’t reward players for making a good pitch. An improvement to this could be having control adjust how accurate the pinpoint needs to be. For example on a fastball for a pitcher with low control they’d have to get 98-100% on the motion, within .02 on the timing, and 2 degrees. Then a pitcher with good accuracy has to get 94-100% on the motion, .05 on the timing, and 5 degrees. This function would better reward players for executing a pitch correctly. - Velocity
Pitchers constantly throw 100+ MPH on every fastball they throw which is not realistic and in real life when pitchers want to throw this hard they have to sacrifice accuracy. A dynamic that can replicate this would be when after making the pitch motion on pin point how hard you pull down onto the spot affects velocity. If you want to throw 100+ MPH you have to hit it down hard, but it will be harder to be precise when doing this. A pitcher like Randy Johnson should sit 97-99 MPH normally, but when you want to throw as hard as he can he can throw 100+, but it is harder for the user to make the pitch accurate.
