He probably won't be added until next week unfortunately, I am pretty sure I read somewhere that a player needs to appear in their first MLB game before they can be added to the roster? Could be wrong though

They've done it before. Vlad Jr and (IIRC) Acuna were both added to the Live roster on their debut days. Just a month ago, Jackson Holliday was in the Live Series before making his debut.
Given that Skenes has already appeared in The Show (as a draft card last year), it's not unreasonable to think he may be just as worthy.

But isn't his debut Saturday? Could be interesting. Either way; finish the Pirates now
