Sets were obviously profitable in '23 so they brought them back. If they're profitable in '24 they'll be back in '25.
Best you can hope for is they change the name again.

The thing with Wild Cards too, is that we don't know how long it will take to earn them when the new season starts. IF they added wild card spots on the Program EXP path, then it might take months of playing to actually get them, especially if they keep limited xp with daily caps.
I agree with the original poster, I think that not allowing people to use certain cards does way more harm to the game than anything good. The only silver lining is these Wild Card spots that were mentioned previously. But I just hope that Wild Card spots themselves are not impossible to get along the way. The addition of new 99s should start to phase out older cards organically.

My opinion on this: If you want to to 3 cycles of power creep, you have to have limits to it. Otherwise every team would consist of all 99s and the power creep would not make sense at all. Try to embrace the new format and see how it goes. They already mentioned, that S2 would start with higher overalls.
I like the power creep (I liked 21/22 much more tho) so I am looking forward to S2-TA1

I think the goal of sets was to increases engagement throughout the year. Indirectly profit of course.
I liked last years models personally and played more than I would have without sets. Didnt spend though, outside of Jackie day, because there is never value for spending.
I think this year so far is worse, because set 1 seems aimless
Seasons, I don't think anyone likes those. I was shocked that people thought this year was a better version when it was announced, but I think people are realizing that it is worse. What is SDS going to release the last 2 weeks? No one will care.
They can think outside the box for awarding lineup diversity without needing to rely on wildcards. -
@YOSHI24 I’m going to interject here…Last year I had a squad of all my favorites P5’d and then I quit when Season 3 dropped and I could no longer use the cards I spent all that time grinding…Came back sometime in January when I heard all cards were usable again. Proceeded to jump right in after not playing a single game from August-December and made it back to World Series within 2 weeks. So yes, I used nothing but cards that were available in July.

Everybody is in the same boat , it's not like your opponents are getting an advantage. They're having to re grind also.

@IrishFist412 Thanks, but you got the false reference comparing to 23. My question compares 24/23 to 21/22 … To make it clearer: You got say 94s in July when playing MLBTS21/22 … and had 99s late autumn. Other than people having theme teams, I do not see anybody using a favorite card from July (again, playing 21/22)

@TheGoaler In the stream, SDS said something like „not all spots are available from the get go. You got to earn those spots“ …People here are very confident, that this means that you unlock those spots via the xp reward path … For example: You start with 1 spot and slowly earn more over the next weeks

@YOSHI24 That’s fine & well but you keep saying “I just don’t get it” whenever someone says they don’t like not being able to use cards year round. So I’m explaining it as well as I can. Alot of people who have been playing The Show for a long time already know what their lineup is going to be end game. So when I have a P5 of players that I want to keep using all year. Well - I want to be able to keep using them. I have nothing against people that want to constantly shake up their team - Have at it. But I should be allowed to play how I want to as well.

I have that guy blocked , but to add on to what ya saying, only cards i want to play with are my Chicago Cubs. So all my S1 Cubbies which are quite a few will be ineligible online. Completely ruins my theme team for online ranked and events etc. Seasons/sets is such a stupid idea. Exactly the reason i dumped this game last year.

I just got to Trevor Story, and although vs. the cpu on Veteran, he hit 3hrs his first game! Always rocked with his cards. I may make him a WC! -
I didn't play last year. Are these card restrictions for S2 only on Ranked? Or does it mean I can't use them vs CPU?
