I guess "broke" would be an exaggeration. But Disney certainly has undercut its bottom line by making Marvel and Star Wars bastions of wokeness. People can claim franchise fatigue, but that's only part of it. And then the last Indiana Jones: another tale of a broken man ceding to a girlboss. How'd that go over? I don't really care, but respond just for the fun of rebutting.
Bud Light, anyone? That was a real thing and effective, even though the company didn't "go broke."

Like I said, "broke" is an exaggeration. But that brand, Bud Light, experienced massive losses over an extended period of time that resulted in the ouster of the exec who initiated that plan and an about-face on marketing strategy. Also, A-B's bottom line was, in fact, impacted.
Motto's are ideas put into snappy language often at the expense of exactness. If you apply the exact meanings of the words to this scenario, good for you; if you apply the general gist of it, then it does indeed apply.
Same exact thing for Disney, too. They're bleeding subscribers and two Teflon IP's have lost their coating, thanks to wokeness -- in part, or largely because of? That's debatable, of course.
