SDS: Pushing me towards online play is pushing me away from the game

When you had players blasting 25k XP games on rookie at max elevation stadiums on repeat last year, this was bound to happen.
I’ve noticed that people who are hyper focused on XP progress this season are the furthest behind.
I'll rephrase it to: the most unhappy.
-
To be fair I'm more driven by the cards in the online modes than I am by the xp, and stubs are in tighter supply this year for everyone. I take advantage when I can and have bought most of the spring breakout/seoul stuff once it dropped and expect Ill hit Leiter well before TA part 3, but last year those were stubs I could have used towards BR cards
I'm past Story on the xp track so I'm doing fine for overall xp, its more the reduction in content than anything. The fact that what little content they do gives peanuts for xp just makes it feel worse.
-
Except for last year, I normally would play this game between 1000-1250 hours per year. Last year I played only around 750 hours. It just seemed to be more money-focused, too much for me. Ever since it went from a PS exclusive to being on every console it just seems to have gotten more and more money and online focused every year. So far this year I have 153 hours played. I'm struggling mightily with staying interested in the game with the speed of a sloth xp progress. I hate online play. I'm just struggling to play because of the very things you have stated OP and the push of packs. It just doesn't feel rewarding to play for me. It's just not fun.
-
@Teak2112 Win or lose, Events still give XP and count towards MP in TA and other programs - or am I wrong?
-
Xp earned just by playing regular games is a joke compared to previous years, whether it's online or offline. People had to resort to grinding mini seasons for the xp bonuses more than in previous years.

sure, but so does ranked and in ranked you are more likely to play someone around your skill level
-
The best cards are in packs and that’s the truth. SDS has lost their way and it’s not the studio’s fault, it’s Sony. They are greedy and are ruining the game. It’s ok college football is coming out and it’s going to destroy this game’s community

This pretty much explains my attitude this year. Last year I had fun. This year just seems eh. @Firefly4917_XBL its not about what record I can have online, it’s plain and simple…online play is not fun for me. I don’t enjoy it. I cringe thinking about it.
-
@BJDUBBYAH you’re playing SIGNIFICANTLY more than the average player if you’re at that high of xp by “just playing the game” I’m around 400k and I feel like I play the game a good amount.

Starting with 18 I saw SDS start to cater to us non H2H people, until now where I have seen a massive over correction to stop boosters. I refuse to pay for PS plus anymore, so H2H isn't an option for me. After yesterdays max XP day I am about to unlock Story. So is is possible I will make it all the way. But in years past I never had to worry about getting all 3 bosses, now I'm worried I won't get one.
Xp cap is ok with me, wish it was weekly rather than daily.
But when you add to these changes the increased number of cards that can only be purchased and smaller number of free specialty packs in programs, without an increase in number of programs, I can easily say this is my least favorite DD year ever.
-
@Adro97-_- are you playing BR? Events? Ranked? Co-Op?

I had a few hours to play yesterday after returning from my fiancee's and found myself wandering over to Fallout 4. DD burnout is real, but so is DD ennui. There's a palpable lack of focus and urgency and vision to DD this year.
I canceled ps-plus and factory-reset my ps5 last night and will be giving it to a nephew or chucking it -- probably the latter. MLBtS has jumped the shark for me, SDS has disgusted me with its non-response to this year's launch/problems, and my life is at risk with NCAA literally right around the corner, lol. (I'm the guy who used to buy Athlon annuals to do rosters myself back in the day...)
I'll miss my Nationals and Pirates franchises, but will probably drop 10 pounds in the next 2 weeks.
Peace, all
If anyone wants to buy a used DualSense for ps5, message me!
EDIT: Dualsense EDGE -- the fancy one.

There is an update for Fallout 4 coming for PS5 this week. I wouldn't chuck it out.

Lol, nah, that's even MORE reason to chuck it. But thanks.
Life changes incoming, turning 50 in a month, annulments nearing their conclusions, and the treadmill beckons once again...
Plus, the passing of Dicky Betts (of the Allman Brothers Band) last Friday really affected me. It reminded me that I used to spend HOURS every day decoding his and Duane's stuff on guitar, then Warren Haynes's stuff, then Jack Pearson...doing things that had palpable positive effects on my life away from the monitor.
Today it's make a playlist for cardio, one that will include the original version of "Blue Sky." You all should give that a listen...=)

Wow, only a couple years from 50 myself, but I have 0 interest in turning in my Ps5 before NCAA. All SDS did this year is make it easy for me to put away MLBTS this July.

All good -- enjoy! For me, personally, it's time. It was time long ago, and that is probably true for lots of us. But we will each have our inflection points, and this Spring/Summer is my time.

Great tune. Even better considering Duane had to convince him to sing it. Wouldn't sound the same with Gregg.
Fillmore version of "Elizabeth Reed" for me, though. Best jazz jam ever by a non-traditional jazz combo. Solos are a masterclass in improv, complete with all the signalling.
Enjoy the treadmill. Hopefully you're not on one for a stress test in 12 years or so. That sucks.
But they let me go home and I hit 260K over the weekend, so there's that. Likely won't make it to the bosses, but oh well.

I can somewhat agree with the OP. The best rewards have always been in Ranked Season, Events, and BR and those of us who choose to not play much online, we'll that's 100% on us but the lack of offline content this year and slower climb in XP is kinda a kick in the nads.
I am finding myself way less motivated to grind and I don't think I'm alone. Overall that has to be bad for SDS. I know I've purchased one 75 pack at game drop and that's it where in years past I would definitely spend a bit more in an effort to build and grind.
Just my 2 cents.

Filmore is the best. There are lots of versions of those sets out there. The album version is spliced together from all those takes.
I wouldn't call Liz Reed anything close to jazz just because it's not a straightforward pentatonic rocker. It's a bit modal, that's all. Neither Duane nor Dicky knew much jazz, really. Now Jack Pearson, on the other hand...
