@Kaznella said in SDS has even monetized the JRD rewards...:

@Pergo said in SDS has even monetized the JRD rewards...:

    Wrong...

    https://theshow.com/news/mlb-the-show-23-jackie-robinson-day-celebration/

I stand corrected. At least on the charity front.

Continued lack of content obtainable through means other than spending money buying packs and stubs still stands.

The Jackie Robinson program looks like the rewards are

    90 Buck O'Neil
    91 Hilton Smith
    92 Hank Thompson
    93 Jackie Robinson
    A Barrier Breakers Pack

Play the “Robinson Breaks MLB’s Color Barrier” Moment, as well as PXP and Multiplayer Missions, a Conquest Map, and complete an Optional Storylines Collection to earn progress in the Jackie Robinson Day Program to add notable Negro League Legends Buck O’Neil, Hilton Smith, Hank Thompson, and, of course, Jackie Robinson to your Diamond Dynasty Squad and pick-up an all-new Barrier Breakers Pack along the way.

    Is that not enough?

    @Dolenz64

Buck O'Neil cards always make me happy. That man is an unsung treasure to baseball. His HOF speech always makes me smile.

@Kaznella said in SDS has even monetized the JRD rewards...:

I am just amazed at how greedy SDS has become....

So the bat skins, socks and bat grips that have been free via programs or conquest map rewards EVERY SINGLE YEAR are now only available in the show store for $4.99.

I wonder how much of the proceeds actually go to the JR Foundation. I bet its not much.

    Once again... Classy move, SDS!

You need to chill. 100% of the proceeds go to the foundation, and you get 5K stubs along with all that for your donation.

SDS is indeed smarmy as hell this year, but people need to pump the breaks and fact check a bit before lobbing Molotov cocktails.

I despise SDS this year, by the way.

Sorry, didn't see you had already walked it back.

SDS still sucks, though. Until they apologize and refund early access money, they're crooks.

This post is an L. They do this every year and 100% of the profit goes to JRF. I am all for going after SDS for the majority of the 24 mishaps but this ain't it.

I have been critical of SDS ( maybe over critical at times ) but this is not a time they should be attacked cause they are doing the right thing. I also have bought the pack every time they have done it and had ZERO regrets in doing it. When I read the post and it was a quick skim of it thought the barrier breaker pack might be a shop thing and was like "of course it is " but then read it more carefully and sounds like it part of the program so no issue.

Side note my only issue ( small at that ) and has ZERO to do with the this is the Jackie card prolly cannot be used for like Dodger missions etc since its part of the negro league program.

Since SDS chose to be scumbags, they should donate 50% of what they made from their loyal playerbase to the JRF and give us the pack for free.
    F them!

I give this program grade of a "A PLUS" --

I was wrong -- I did not even notice the XP at the front of the program ( taking out 1st part of post and last part in grade part )

I do not condone your language, but I back the idea. Donate the early access money to the JRF since the game was broken and Nintendo players couldn't even access DD. I'd do that rather than get a refund. Then SDS doesn't have to apologize to its player base -- something they won't do anyway -- and can seem like they're doing a very moral thing. 😉

What a wildly wrong take. The title should be “SDS sells stubs for charity and tacks on in game content as a kicker, just like every other year. Then they gave us free cards for collections AND presale content for free with a content map like we have all been asking for.”

Plenty to complain about but if you also want to complain about the good stuff just stop playing the game maybe?
