I planned to take my Switch to grind MLBTS this week while traveling, but obviously that would not work. So instead, I took my new PS Portal to play MLBTS game in my hotel room in the evenings, or wherever I got the chance.

Unfortunately, this game was not playable on the Portal. The input lag was brutal. With Sony's Portal, you need at least 15 mbps upload speed for most games, and probably over 30 mbps (upload) for this game.

Sadly, using hotel wifi, I was only getting about 9 mbps upload speed. Switching to cellular 5g was worse, at only 1 mbps upload speed. While the download speed on my 5g cellular hotspot was over 200 mbps, that didn't matter, since the upload speed was so slow.

Hopefully the Switch version of this game will be working, the next time I travel.

I have a hardwired PS5, have tried doing tips to fix it but The Show is unplayable for me even at home. It lags and stutters so bad, there’s basically no games I would play that would run on this POS.

Exactly why I play on Nintendo switch, pairs very easily to the internet no matter where you are and very easily to a phone's hotspot in the car for a long car ride

I know this is old and I'm sure you know this by now but it wasn't the internet, it's the portal. I have 500 up and down internet and my ps5 is hardwired to the router, I also have a second eero router hooked up that splits my devices so they're not all plugging up my single router and eero boosters. Speed tests show over 500 up and down but if I try to play mlb 24 on my portal sitting 10 feet from my ps5 the input lag is so bad I can hardly get a hit because by time I see the pitch and get the pci lined up and swing the pitch is already almost by me. The portal has a serious issue with input lag to where games where input lag can make or break a game such as mlb 24 the portal is pretty much impossible to use

I grind on the Switch all the time using my phone as a mobile Hotspot. Works perfect and is far and away the best mobile version of the game. Tried The Show on Lenovo Legion Go and it is unplayable. Switch is STILL the best mobile device, and it isn't close. Kinda sad, but impressive at the same time.

I play my switch all day going to FL using the hotspot on my phone and have no problems so a switch is definitely the way to go

Switch on phone's hotspot works about 97% of the time for me. I get kicked off randomly very infrequently, but usually have no issues.

Tried using my portal again since a friend said a recent update fixed some of the lag. That’s a lie. It still sucks. Switch is by far the better mobile platform. So much so I’ve used it on Southwest’s wifi 30,000 feet in the air and it still better then the portal.

But the catch is the downgrade in quality and performance.

I really don't care about that, all I care about is actually playing away from home which I can with the Nintendo switch

@sbchamps17_NSW I wonder if Switch 2 will be any better graphics and loading wise.

The release date of the Switch 2 may be around the same time as MLBTS25. I would like to see at least 60 fps at 1080p in portable, handheld mode ... with an OLED screen. Frame rate and resolution do matter for this game.
