What are we even supposed to grind offline now?

@x814xmafia
Before last year, the content was the brightest aspect of this game. From what I remember, most of the complaints were about gameplay, not content. Their previous "innings" content format worked fine and was liked by most of the community.... It is unfortunate that they got away from that format. -

You may be right but I have also preached some patience but it gets harder and harder to do when they mess over gamers without a word. Did they mention the Mini Seasons thing in the stream even in a passing way -- NOPE
I am sorry Teak I might be wrong about you but I am annoyed and players making excuses for SDS just sets me off a little.
Generally companies dont comment on bugs that aren't widely known or else people will rush to exploit it. I noticed day 1 that the missions werent repeatable and only learned a day or two ago that they actually were.
The bigger problem to me was that it was in the game in the first place. Clearly SDS cant handle the yearly cycle as it is now. Things like this bug, the return of 2 way bug, the current real 99 bug, whatever caused the first patch attempt to fail so spectacularly. Thats a lot of incompetence on things didnt really hcange all that much.
As for the xp cap...I'm fine with less ways to earn it if I am still hitting the wheel at roughly the same time left in season with the same effort. Remains to be seen if the balance is right. And the xp cap should be at least partially cumulative for the people (not me) who can only play a few days a week.
I feel the content so far has been too light, and there hasnt been enough ways to earn choice packs so far. The season award content drop needs to be significant.

@biscodisco This is where I am. Literally no way of playing the game seems like a worthwhile return on investment for the time required. You can't even finish the ranked program with just innings anymore. They took out the three team conquest map that's been in the last two years. The daily XP cap is less than the gap between rewards, and MANY of the rewards are utterly pointless (gee, I really want to spend two days grinding for an icon or a banner; thanks guys). I (mostly) enjoy playing the game, but the motivation to do so simply isn't there.
-
After reading these posts and hearing that SDS nerfed mini seasons, I must admit I'm a little annoyed and disappointed as someone with a family and two jobs it was one of the best ways for me to actually grind the seasons xp and now with lesser rewards and xp, it is useless to play. Do better SDS.

Offline player here too. I feel like I am constantly waiting for more content to drop to be able to do anything now. There is just no way for offline players to earn stubs either. You have to get lucky hitting a diamond because there is no way to make money off of the reward path like past years. Love the game but they took away the drive to play more and keep me engaged.

Seems like they just want to put the majority of XP in program reward paths. So once you're done with the programs, there's basically nothing to do offline that feels like it's worth your time.
And the main XP path is complete garbage. Too long, too many garbage rewards. Nobody wants to grind 2-3 days for some stupid unsellable stadium sound. Or how about a 89 Trevor Story at 535k XP that will be outdated by the time you get it. And then your big rewards at the end all expire within 2 weeks of you getting them.
Just completely stupid design decisions by devs that seem hellbent on driving away as many players as they can
-
@Easy_Duhz_It_ The rewards are still there, but no XP rewards for subsequent runs. I think that's how it was intended (logical; repeat for packs and bundles but the XP would be an exploit), but mistakenly put a repeat on the XP rewards as well. Hence, why people are p***ed. It never made sense in the first place.
-
I'm glad it's not just me. Last night I looked at my options in game and thought, now what am I going to do? Heck I can't even grind for packs at this point. Plus even if there are some things to grind the carrot isn't worth it. I started RTTS for the first time in years and even that is the exact same thing with a different skin on it.
-
@bostondirtdog21 you can grind packs. Last night I played for maybe 4 hours and opened over 40 standard packs and over 5 biah packs. The problem is I didn't pull anything worth even a little stubs. That becomes very demoralizing after a short time.
There is no point in playing this game rn. And the season awards coming out today will probably take all of about 1 hour to finish then it's back to what? Grinding ranked for a 30k card that you can't even sell? Miniseasons vs the annoying cpu for a bunch of bronze packs and 0 xp?
Someone above had a good point. The xp cap isn't even enough to get you from one terrible reward to the next lol. Who thought this was a good idea?
-
@yankblan it doesnt make sense for mini seasons to give repeatable xp? I think it makes perfect sense. Br gives xp, ranked gives xp, programs give xp. So why after a 5-7 hour grind shouldn't the offline players get xp as well?
-
Don't forget that 8000 xp and 2500 stubs are hidden behind the online modes in the Egg Hunt Program.
-
What happened to the weekly program too that was a good way for easy XP , Stubs and a pack or 2 ??
I am kind of afraid for todays content drop with the new way they are doing PoTM or Topps Now or whatever this is cause so far almost everything they have changed has turned into a cluster BEEP in some way. I hope I am wrong but I am afraid part of it will be some pack you have to buy in the show shop maybe not the first part but at some point you will have to hit the shop.

I understand SDS's overall approach.
Cater to the whiners, complainers, those who casually play the game, and those who are not good at the game. They listened to the wrong types of gamers bc those ppl cry the loudest. The only reason to grind anything rn is for the xp and cards to put in collections. Also of course to just "have fun."
I'm currently playing Events after finishing with the BR program. Playing against these ppl who throw cockshots down the middle every 3rd pitch is like going 1 on 1 with a 6 yr old in basketball.... I'll have little fun dunking and running all over them, but winning is winning, I guess lol.As for the xp cap, it was put in to control how fast ppl get to the 99's. I mean, fine. I'm only at 375k xp myself. If there was no cap, I'd have grinded play vs cpu xp methods and got to max xp in a few days. Same with everyone else. As for the rewards, there's literally 2 cards that are worth getting. Naps and Story. Seager too, I guess. Fingers = o....k.... compared to who's already in game.
Other than that, we are really grinding for the 99's, when sds let's us hit 1 mil, lol.I created a thread regarding ranked rewards, and came up with a proposal to make them better and worth grinding for. Most of the ppl didn't like it. They like EZ training wheel paths for the ranked cards and don't want to pay alot for them. Nor do they want to even try to get to 900. They want it just for playing the game. I suggested having 2 paths. One set of cards for those not good enough to get to 900, and one exclusive for WS players. They pretty much shot it down, and complained, lol.
Their approach this year 100% caters to those who are not good at the game, don't really play head to head online, and those who prefer to grind programs while playing against the CPU all day.
And SDS even messed this up. I hate offline [censored]. But I've completed everything including Mini seasons, TA, Conquest, Easter Egg, etc.
I played pretty much every game on allstar or hof. Not losing once. Not coming close to losing once. Playing against the CPU is boring and sucks. But I did it just for the xp, collection cards, and packs.Point is, if this game is now meant to cater to offline casuals, SDS did a horrible job with content. There's just not enough.

Actually some people (me) do enjoy playing 9 inning game and grinding XP for both the program and TA. There will be other programs you just have to have patience, the season is less then 1 week old
I'm not defending SDS and there are some huge bugs that need addressing still but the grind will be fine, if you need something to do there is always the Jeter and Negro Leagues storylines both are fun and not very difficult and they will be very much worth it in the long run.
Me too, I'd rather play that...plus I get to use and see my created stadiums in a game environment which is cool. I agree with the bugs...there's lots to fix but there's also alot of storyline content coming which is good

It really feels like the offline players are getting screwed this year in this game. We could complete collections and programs just by getting the cards you got playing offline. This year feels like they are trying to force everyone into online play modes as well as spending money to get packs or stubs. Just feels like the amount of free cards from completing programs, conquests, and mini seasons is nothing compared to years past. Add that to having most extra xp available only in multiplayer modes, a lower xp cap, lower xp rewards, and you get a game that went from being by far the best ultimate team mode for offline players to just another fully focused on taking your money and forcing you into online.
Also, I'm with other offline people. Why can't we get repeatable xp for completing mini seasons? SDS playing the xp police with people is such an odd choice. Why take away reasons for people to play the game? Feels like there would be more engagement overall if xp was more evenly balanced between offline and online. Plus all the cards in this season 1 program will be unusable once season 2 starts except for wild cards. Why is it terrible for us to get the cards a little sooner and actually have some time using them?
Then today's release of the awards and topps now stuff is super disappointing. All the best cards only available in packs. Why are there none of those packs at the end of the program to earn?

@Bearsfan217 he’s banned about 5 times a year there is no stopping him.

@suzypuff14
I actually play vs CPU over and over again, it’s what I enjoy, but I also don’t complain about not being able to get items that are online only

Me either. It never gets old to me.
On Triple Play '98, I had 2 162 game seasons going at the same time once, Mets & Indians. It's still baseball and a baseball fix. -
@samguenther1987 me too they should add more options or modes too play 9 inning games
-
I still have four more divisions in TA, the Egg Hunt, the TN, and MTO (lots of MTO for the TA’s) to play.
I don’t seem to have enough time to get through all the stuff, which is weird for an old grumpy retired guy.
