(‘23) Delayed actions and infielders to outfielders transitions

I have a few questions about the gameplay and programming. Both of these questions are about fielding. First, I am wondering why do fielders delay before taking an action, like throwing the ball to a base when pre-charging the button as they are waiting for the ball to reach them? I am playing a lot of second base RTTS and this is where I notice it most. Especially for double plays.
My second question is that it feels very awkward when a ball is hit between infielders and the game highlights them to control but when the ball reaches to the outfield, the highlighted player switches to the outfielder and the direction that I am moving the analog stick is the wrong direction. Is there a way to remedy this? It just seems like the game could be reworked to fix these things and flow better. This is for ‘23, I have not played ‘24. -
Fielding attributes may play a role in the delay , but I'm not sure
