I kinda like what their doing, they actually listened about the extra wild card slots. I don't think we will get many 99s right off the bat this year

To me, sets returning despite the largely negative response to them tells me SDS once again went completely tone-deaf...I'm still gonna play because I enjoy the game itself... but to me this is a relative L. Only thing I like about it is the power creep has returned...maybe playing it will change my mind.

In reading the post I am very intrigued on how I understand what they are doing.

It's seems like each season will be it's own DD so the power creep is back but will be quicker but when a season ends it resets a bit so you have to rebuild again. At least that's how I took it.

TA idea looks interesting and the rewards start at 89s so the creep is there.

It looks interesting and of course I'm gonna buy and play I love the show

I was really hoping these wouldn't be back. It was interesting last year and gave them credit for trying something new but I'd love to know what data they have that suggests people liked this?

I cannot believe the majority of people kept pace? I was on it for season 1 and 2 but did absolutely nothing in season 3 and stopped playing altogether shortly through season 3.

I know we don't HAVE to grind for everything but they are preying on the idiots like me who have a completionst mentality lol

You might not like sets returning, but "completely tone deaf"? C'mon.

There are at least a few major changes they made that came largely from community feedback (TA grind, fewer 99's at launch, etc.).

Also, there's probably a way to do seasons/sets right. It's just that last year we were used as beta testers for an idea, and that feels gross.

Looks like WC slots can only be activated by grinding also?

The "I'm out" point in DD for me is when either (a) the grind gets gross or (b) it feels like I'm doing programs to unlock cards that are stupid, cringe, or underpowered compared to previous cards.

Last year had both of those, so I only made it partly through season 2.

Also, a huge problem -- seasons try to replicate the sizzle of launch day, and they can't. To use a 4x strategy game metaphor, the "mid game" feel of DD was missing last year. You can't redo the build/power-up phase several times without there being a feeling of disappointment. Another metaphor: DD is now like franchise rebuild videos on YT. I'll give it a chance, but don't have a great feeling going in. We'll see when season 2 hits...

I really like (at least as I get it) the repeatable power-creep each season over the 3 tiers … Sounds awesome. And I like that they build up on 23 and learn … I like what I am reading, sounds very interesting 🙂

Whoever doesn’t earn the wild card slots is gonna cry about it. My opponent had x amount of wild card spots and I only had 1. They’re cheating me. 🙄

BR getting a bit easier now with it requiring you to go 10-0 instead of 12-0 I might be able to get those flawless rewards now.

Sellable Ranked rewards - that's a "win", right?

BR being 10-0 means the sharks are going to get even richer...will now need to have a 1000x flawless banner, lol...will this also mean the prices of those rewards lowers with more of them in the market?

    @arvcpa

Well. They’re always sellable if you achieve them by rank.

They’re not if achieved by grinding.

So it doesn’t tell us anything tbh.

There really wasn’t anything in the DD post to me that was “now, that is exciting”. It was “ok, maybe it won’t be as bad.” I truly wanted something “exciting”. I used to play this game 10 months a year and loved it. Last year I was done right after TA3 started and had slowed way down even before that. I just jumped back on the game over the past few days and was reminded how much I absolutely hated ‘23. I have 3 million stubs and don’t even know what to do with them. The game was just so disorganized.

I really hope ‘24 is better and I really hope it is “good”, but the entire blog post just left me going “I really don’t know…depends how they do it.”

@aaronjw76 It's 100% a case of "we had this unique idea and don't want to admit it sucked, so after all that work we're not gonna admit to it being a flop / scrap it"

So instead they basically just changed it back to normal and kept the name "sets"

Unless I'm reading this wrong, you actually get less time with cards this year.

Yes, seasons are 12 weeks but those cards are limited to just that season, unless you unlock the up to 4 wildcard spots (don't know if you have to do that every season or what). Last year the seasons were 6 to 8 weeks, but you could use the previous season's cards for that season. So you got 12 to 16 weeks timeframe for every set, with the exception of sets 4 and 5 since they were eligible from when introduced till the end.

This is a tighter timeframe and more restrictions on cards.
