Here is Beckett.com Team Sets for the upcoming 2024 Topps Series 1 release.
Now we all now that the LS cards are modeled after these cards.
What's real interesting is that there is no mention of Yamamoto in the Dodgers Team Set.
What's even more interesting is thst there is no mention, other than a combo League Leaders card, of Shohei Ohtani in either the Angels or Dodgers Team Sets.
Which brings up two interesting questions:
-
With no Topps 2024 card, until after at least Series 2 releases, does that mean Yamamoto won't be in the LS Collection when 24 drops?
-
Will SDS have to use 23's LS picture of Ohtani and will he be on the Dodgers or still on the Angels?

no
Short version of it is Topps has to print all these cards physically, so they have to have cutoff dates on what they can include.
Considering it's only about a month away from Series 1 release, I would guess it's all been printed beforehand.
SDS does digital cards, they can be released the day the rights come in because there is no physical product being put out

@eatyum_PSN All he has to do is look at Carlos Rodon for an example of what the game will do. Unless he thinks that he pitched for the Yankees with a full beard.
-
@fubar2k7 There really is no need to be hostile, the way rights work can be confusing sometimes
-
You think I’m being hostile. I can’t wait for you guys to get jobs and work for real bosses. Have some common sense is all I’m saying. Every free agent signed after December is going to be on their old team.

Photoshop exists

What do you mean? If Ohtani doesn't have a card in 2024 Topps Series 1, and the LS cards are based of that design, how will the give Ohtani a card?

The same way Carlos Rodon has a Yankees card in this game with his full beard. Photoshop.

Topps Now are different from the base series. They're special cards.
Chances are Yamamoto won't be in until they release Series 2.
I could get wrong as they can release him and use a black silhouette picture and change it when they do an update later in the year

I think they’ll photoshop them both. Ohtani from the Angels and Yamamoto from the WBC and maybe update them later.

Yeah. I'm just going by past experience. Last year, even though he signed, Masataka Yoshida wasn't in the Red Sox LS Collection until late. I want to say around June.
We'll find out in a few months. I think Ohtani will be in the game; but I don't think Yamamoto will be in until they do an update or two. But I could be wrong.

I would tend to agree because every Japanese player was the same in the past. Senga as well last year. Senga wasn’t in the WBC but Yoshida was in the WBC. However, the game was made before the WBC so we have no idea when they for the WBC players rights but we know they had them and Yamamoto has his NIL in MLB23. He could be just like when Ohtani was in MLB18 at launch only because they had is NIL so they might already have his rights. Same for Jung-Hoo Lee from Korea.
