Potential Improvements

First, this mode really needs to give us the option of playing with a current MLB player. There’s absolutely no reason we should have to labor through the minor leagues as a position player with some random guy while, for lack of a better term, absolutely sucking because of the game requiring you to go through a bunch of hoops to boost your various player ratings that aren’t even good to begin with. Not to mention that there’s no guarantee you’ll even get called up to the majors. That really makes the mode feel like school homework, not something that’s actually enjoyable. Now I know there may certainly be some who enjoy the grind, so I’m not necessarily saying to change it so that you can no longer create a player. But I do think that we should have the option of playing as a real life major leaguer. Another potentially cool addition would be having brief interviews with media members at certain times throughout the regular season and playoffs, such as after big games. They could be in the locker room at times, but they could be at the podium other times, just as they are at times in the playoffs.

And I know I can use player lock in season mode, but I don’t think that provides for nearly as immersive of an experience.

It's called "Road to the Show," not "Already in the Show."

Lol. You could do it with players that have zero service time like Bobby Miller for example had zero at launch.

@broken_toy1 Sure, but that still doesn’t change the fact that this mode involves quite a bit of a grind. And when the mode starts, your players ratings are, forget about good, really not even average. You could get asked to steal with speed and steal ratings of well below 50. And for some weird reason, the coach doesn’t like it if you don’t attempt a steal in that situation. You shouldn’t even be asked to steal with such bad ratings. And when I’ve used player lock in season mode, the weird throwing controls always show up. I haven’t seen that you can just use the simple button throwing either. I’d like to know if I’m just missing something regarding the throwing controls and if any others have had that problem. SDS needs to either add a new mode or rename RTTS.

While I understand OP's point, fubar is right. Perhaps having multiple story lines, even if they have to recycle older ones to be used based on say a pre draft workout, or whatever MLB's equivalent to the combine is called.
Perhaps a more random draft order instead of being say mid to late draft, sometimes you get picked number one overall, or maybe you are the last pick in the draft.
Maybe basing your minor league experience to match the expectations of where you got drafted would help a bit too.
Once in the show the managers usually stink. I have a 25 game hit streak and I am benched to start the game, but get used as a pinch hitter in a game we are losing by 8 in the 7th inning? How about being brought in as a defensive replacement when not starting, or part of a double switch?
If they are going to keep having rain situations how about games being delayed and pitchers having to be replaced, or rained out and rescheduled or called if after the 5th?
I would not mind multiple home screens between games. I am sick of being in the clubhouse at home and plane/bus on the road. Have me in the hotel or home, or at a restaurant, etc.

The grind is the mode. I've only been playing since MLBTS19, but it's my understanding that RTTS, with franchise, has been around since the beginning. Franchise was about playing your team against other teams in a season format. RTTS is to build your player from a prospect to a superstar. It's not supposed to take a couple of days to be in the MLB. You want to move up faster? Change your sliders to high injuries and trades. Also, do it in beginner, and pick a team more likely to move you up quicker. Want to take your time? Do the opposite. I agree coaching is not very good, but you don't have to listen. You will be a starter on your team, no matter what.
The snail known as Manny Machado has several steals IRL. Slow people stealing does happen. Heck, Daniel Vogelbach has stolen some. Not much, but he has succeeded and my fat old bootie could outrun him.
I've never had problems with throwing in any mode. You can always change your settings to button throwing without a meter. X=home, O=1st, triangle=2nd, square=3rd, and L1=cutoff man.
They'd be more likely to get rid of RTTS than add a new mode, and "Road to the Show" is a great name for putting you on a path from prospect to big leaguer to legend.

I think you're on to something here.
For continuity and realism, I don't think you could/should do current players. But Legends? Okay, as new prospect Mickey Mantle. You have his base archetype, appearance, positions, and stances. Recreate his career as a modern day Yankee, or choose a different route. All the while not changing RTTS significantly. Shouldn't take an excessive amount of time or money to add. All that info is already there.

I don't think they've used the plane/bus for two or three years. I think the clubhouse is just a menu screen now.

I love ya Toy but one of these two statements is false and that’s with me agreeing with you about you being able to outrun Vogelbach. One thing he can brag about which is he’s never been caught stealing lol because he’s never made a single attempt in the majors haha

I like this idea. It would definitely get me back into RTTS.

I admit I am wrong. I wonder who I was thinking of. Prince Fielder did, but it wasn't him. Eh, I'm correct on Machado though.

Alejandro Kirk! That's who I was thinking of.
