As someone else put it, seemingly the only players left are goons, streamers, and flippers.
As I don't consider myself a "goon", "streamer" or "flipper", can we add another category?
How about "Esteemed Gentlemen of Class"? Or "Losers with nothing else to do"? Either works for me.
I’ve missed the levity you bring to this place. I thought you might still be on a bender celebrating your acquisition of Rowdy Roddy Tellez lol

@arvcpa
Haha fair enough. But I think you are in the minority for sure. As long as you are having fun that’s all that matters.

@arvcpa
Even though content was cut early last year I felt the market remained much more active late into the game cycle. This year it feels like players rush back when the new season launches and then bail a few days later. The high end cards are moving at a snails pace because the supply is basically nonexistent. This shows me that a large portion of online players have moved on to bigger and better things.

I think you're 100% right.

I’m not good enough nor do I want to endure the online toxicity to get newhouser, Davis or Braun in BR. I also don’t feel like dropping 1M stubs each on them because there are very few up for sale. None of these cards are elite and it sure would be nice if there were multiple ways to earn these cards outside of online play.
-
@TripleH-4481 maybe they will do some more card give aways via offline modes in Season 6 since they have such a small audience. They have a program next week that says you can earn over 100 packs, maybe some of those packs could be previously online only packs.

Isn't that how any annual serialized game works?
I'd imagine The Show has just as many people playing now as ... say ... WWE 2K3.
-
@BxnnyMxn_ Tellez is the last piece of the puzzle. Just you all wait and see...
EDIT: Looks like the Dodgers are signing Glasnow. I'm guessing the Dodgers will now come after Tellez and destroy our well-thought-out strategy.

True. Just "feels" more dead this year. Or, I'm just getting more impatient in my later years. Probably both.

I suck as I do every year and will be here like always.

As someone else put it, seemingly the only players left are goons, streamers, and flippers. Everyone else is pretty much gone until 24, 25, or possibly indefinitely. This year’s game attempted something different and I feel it was a giant swing and a miss. I’ve seen numerous long time supporters of this game sour significantly over the course of theIs game cycle. If major changes don’t happen next year I fear there will be a massive exodus. SDS can only hope to attract new players to replace those that will inevitably leave. Personally I haven’t really enjoyed the past 2 years games and it may be time to sit out 24 if the decline continues.
And people like us who have been around since before streaming and flipping and gooning existed.
-
@fubar2k7
True. Again I would call that group a minority compared to previous years. Guess it’s just sad to see the state of the game at this point. I’m keeping my fingers crossed SDS takes the feedback they have been getting from all the surveys they sent out and makes some massive changes to future games. This year was such a radical shift that it has to be viewed as a massive experiment to see just how far they can push certain things before getting backlash. In the end there has to be some middle ground where SDS makes their money and the players get a satisfying game that doesn’t feel like a repetitive job.
-
I’m not a goon, or streamer, or flipper. I look forward to doing team builds to their full capacity in Ranked with Set 6. A new BR, new mini season. Etc.
I still play almost every day offline or online at some point.
-
Might not be many folks but I can see some not coming back to the game because they don't care to grind/play for another 99 of the same player they earned a 99 several months ago.
As has been stated many times this year the content delivery (amount/type/timing) has been very questionable.
-
I think think some people are reading into the narrative a bit much. Let’s stop feeding it and enjoy the game. It is mostly like this every year and still I’m finding matches about the same. Try to focus on the upcoming season 6. Because I can bet the first week of that will have a lot of people back
-
I don't play online so I have no idea but I do think it is safe to assume that mostly diehards remain at this stage.
I said it another topic somewhere but only SDS knows where they are at with player engagement. The question is not how well DEC 16, 2023 compares to May 16th, 2023 but instead how it compares to Dec 16th, 2022.
I will say that this is about as late into the year that I have kept playing. Of course I took almost two months off to play other game releases so that stopped me from getting burnt out too quick.
-
When so many rewards are no sell rewards the cards being available in the market can’t be a gauge for how many people are playing. I assume that’s what these posts are suggesting. And the ones that sometimes are available are prospects which are the most made up cards, which most non-casual fans probably don’t particularly care for.
-
I believe you will see a big bump in utilization when season 6 drops. People will be intrigued to build a god squad will all card available to them. I think thats the idea behind sets in general. Its a reason to play this late in the year.
With that said, I also think utilization completely dies for Show23 about 2 weeks after set 6 starts. I dont think it will take long for everyone to get sick of facing Randy, Gibson, Donaldson, Skenes or Snell every single time they play.
Im actually looking forward to the end of new content (ie progams, conquests and events) so I can finally stop playing.

I can understand Gonson, Randy, and Donaldson. But why Skenes and why Snell (which version)?
I thought Snell was easy to pickup because either version doesn't have a cutter.
-
@X-FREEZE-OFF-X Skenes and Snell are who im seeing at a high rate the last 2 events, which allowed for some older cards. I agree they arent as hard to hit as Donaldson, Gibson and Randy.
I was just projecting the other 2 people will pick based what im seeing a lot of right now.
