The amount of stubs for sub par cards is crazy.
Well, we don't know that this card will be sub-par. Granted nothing in his 1958 season shouts "I am a baseball god" but who knows what SDS will do. His 1958 stats would probably have limited him to a gold card in 2023.
On the plus side, I still believe we are getting Willie Mays tomorrow. Season 6's XP timeline could be littered with 99 legends. Signature Series has been pretty light on big names this year. A ton of MVP and Cy Young award winners never got cards either. But maybe I am being foolishly optimistic.
But I know that no matter who they release people will complain about who was included and if they don't complain about who was included then they may complain about the attributes given to those players. And yes, I may very well be one of those complainers.

This card for the same exact year was in last years game but was a 97.

I get SDS can’t win but they can certainly do much better than they have for the majority of the 23 game cycle and that’s why so many of us are frustrated.

All we can do at this point is hope that they have been paying attention, learned a few lessons in this first year of Sets and Seasons, and try to do better next season.
Anyway, we'll see what they tease us with tomorrow morning and what they release tomorrow afternoon.

He’s the season 5 Pirates captain, so if you wanted to use him on a Pirates theme team, you are either at risk of getting banned or are out of luck. It’s all so poorly planned or just terrible attention to detail. SDS needs to do better.

Thats my main issue with the captains
Make the captains guys who dont have 99 ovr cards otherwise useless

How would you get banned if you use him?

They are 100% trolling. It’s December nobody wants this card, they can’t spend all of their professional time working on this game and feel like this reveal was going to get players hyped in December. the Boggs card was at least a fan favorite type with insanely juiced power, Bill Mazeroski is a middle finger warm up for when they reveal Nelson Cruz as the main reward for the program

I don't think they are trolling. They probably looked and said "Gee we have not given Mazeroski a card over a 95 yet."
But, I do think that they just did not pay enough attention to their timing. Releasing a second Set 5 Mazeroski when his first Set 5 card is a captain card just can't be chalked up to anything but poor planning. I mean Legends are not earning any any extra cards due to their performance during the year so they should be planned out well in advance so players don't have to choose between a captain card and a 99 card in the same set.
I understand with current players that you never know how they will perform each year. Will they get a Topps Now card, a POTM card, an All-Star card, a special series card (Field of Dreams, London Series). That makes them harder to plan out but there should be no such issues with legends.

Haha, that would be amazing if they had the nerve to do something like that. At this point if it’s anybody besides Willie Mays they are gonna get extreme backlash.

100% agree. This is yet another illustration of the poor planning throughout this entire game cycle. Basically zero foresight. Tons of overlap, duplicates, and cards that generally make no sense given their release date.

SDS for the Love of God can you give us some players that we don’t already have? This is getting so old already! I can honestly say I’m starting to get bored for the first time since I’ve had the game and I am SO SICK OF LOOKING AT 5 & 6 different cards of the same players! You guys may not realize this but you’re ruining your own game!!!! Give us new players!!! If you don’t have the right to new players send pay these players or these players family’s what they want to put them on this game!!! You’ve already made 10’s of millions on this game! Now give something back to the community that keeps you guys going! We don’t need 7 different cards of Willie Mays and please don’t tell me your giving us a Bill Mazeroski card sheesh!!

Finest Program Cards - Happy everyone is getting their Willie Mays. I am also happy Lou Brock finally got a 99. Even as a cardinals fan though I don't care much about Joe Torre.

Here are all the cards today I think - Four extra Retro Finest that may be earnable simply by doing moments.
