Please don't bring back Sets in MLB 24

It sucks that Sets LITERALLY ruins the grind like bro I grinded my [censored] off to get good cards that I need to use just for it to not be "Season eligible". People like myself thought that Sets would work well in MLB The Show but NOOOO it did not at all.
Sets is basically a microtransaction strategy that a lot of people did not notice at all and they did it in Seasons 1 through 3 they had programs that reward with 97 overall cards as the "main reward" except for POTM and then keep dropping really good 99 overall cards in PACKS. Remember when we all thought they're gonna put Elly De La Cruz as a 99 Topps Now reward just like Kenley and Kimbrel well they put that dude in a CHASE PACK. SDS then clutched up by adding Team Affinity into its own collection but sadly they are Set cards so basically I grinded for Corbin Carroll just to not use him later on because of Sets and yes I used Adley as my Wild Card cus he's Adley.
San Diego Studios if you are seeing this PLEASE get rid of Sets and also start dropping some more programs with 99 Overall Cards because ever since clutch became important almost every 97 and 98 overall card is useless and also please drop 99s left and right. If you want more diversity into a player's roster then get rid of Sets drop a bunch of 99s in every new season or program and everyone's team would look different. I said that because when Sets were activated starting from Season 3 every player I faced nearly had the same team as other players did but when I played MLB 22 which has no Sets my opponents had so many different lineups and pitchers.
The reason why MLB 21 and 22 had players stay on the game longer than MLB 23 is because we weren't forced to grind just to become "Season eligible". I like MLB The Show with no Sets is because I feel rewarded for grinding to have a good team instead of being forced to grind 2-3 times just to be "Season eligible"
Please don't bring back Sets in MLB 24.
I want to grind the game to be rewarded with a good team instead of being forced to grind to have a good team multiple times which doesn't feel rewarding.

I don't mind them if they change it around.
They need to make the three Set Collection cards Core cards.

Sadly, SDS only cares about money. Your game experience is of no concern to them. As evidence, look at the half complete game with massive bugs that never got fixed. I understand that businesses exist to make money, but when a company only sees their customers as chumps to be exploited that's a bad thing.

@X-FREEZE-OFF-X Sounds kinda nice if SDS does it then I could be a bit ok with it

I completely undestand the frustration some have around Sets. I really do .... That said, playing online against Season 2 Set Collection Randy Johnson and John Donaldson ALL YEAR would have 100,000 times more frustrating.
People also complain about some cards costing too much on the market. When cards were no longer eligable, their price dropped significantly. Thats exactly how I purchased my Milestone Nelly. HIs price went from $800,000 to $600,000 as soon as he wasn't eligible. Do I have to wait to play ranked with him? I do, but now he will be on my end game GOD SQUAD.
At the end of the day, people will complain regardless. If they drop sets, people will complain they dont have a reason to grind. If they keep them, people will complain about having to grind.
Playing against the same pitchers over and over sucks. I like the semi reset that takes to rosters when a new set comes.

I don't mind sets and seasons but they really need to be better planned out compared to what we got this year. I have said it many times but my Cardinals theme team peaked in season 2 and then got weaker in Seasons 3 and 4. What kind of motivation is that? By the start of season 3 at the all-star break I had to give up on using 99 versions of Bob Gibson, Jim Edmonds, Ozzie Smith, and Jordan Walker. Starting in set 4 I could no longer use 99 Stan Musial. None of them has gotten another 99.
If I want to use Stan Musial in season 5 then I am restricted to a 94 overall captain card. But hey, at least both Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte have had 99 versions eligible for every single season in this years game.
If I want to use Nolan Arenado on my Cardinals theme team I am limited only his live series card (83 ovr) is eligible.
I am sure the bottom line for SDS though is did we have more stubs sales in 2023 than we did in 2022. If the answer is yes then we most likely will see more of the same next year.

@Invinitee There is literally HUNDERS of 99 cards. You want more of them?????

Instead of Captain cards giving attribute increases, I think a captain card should allow you to access all cards affiliated with the captain's team regardless of sets. If someone is willing to do a team build instead of a god squad (which puts them at a disadvnatage) I think they should be allowed to access all that team's cards.
-
@kcartledge That actually sounds so good I hope they do that if they keep Sets
-
My only problem with sets is FOMO and the fact that set 1 prices are extremely overpriced.
-
I don't like playing offline. Sets have made it to where I can't use certain cards online because of the restrictions. If you're going to make make me accumulate stats with a particular card he needs to be playable online at all times. I didn't start on day 1. I started 2-3 weeks ago, so I have Set 1,2 and 3 guys I need stats with now, but can't play online with.
-
It’s the games way of rewarding players that paid full price and have played all year long. If they allowed new players to buy the game for 50% off or more and have all the perks of the day one crowd nobody would buy the game until late in the cycle. I’m not saying I agree with it just that at the end of the day SDS is a business trying to maximize profit.

LITERALLY in less than two weeks you can use anybody you want.
Now, It is fine to dislike seasons but complaining with only 2 weeks to go before they open the floodgates and allow us to use any card you want seems a little late to the party.
-
Fax every season I need to use random players instead of cards I've gotten to p5
-
I wont get it if they bring back sets and seasons, that ruined 23 and made it more work then fun and I still did it and played almost daily till Nov. Not anymore . If sets and seasons come back they will loose out on my yearly 300 to 500$ i spend on that game!
-
I'm guessing 24 will be minor bug fixes and not much more. I'm think they'll save major changes to a true Next-Gen release, but that's probably two years down the road. Sets are here to stay - ugh.
-
@arvcpa_MLBTS Assuming they’re around since they might lose that guys 500 bucks.

To me, not sure … Sets&Seasons are not that deeply implemented. There are a few filter options (which should be customizable) and you have the lineup screen with some „Check if team is okay to use“ …
The bigger things would be gameplay-wise … e.g. a new hitting-engine. Do not count that out … but, yeah, it could be -
Agreed. Sets destroyed my love of DD. I haven't played DD since last July. Let us reap the full rewards of all the grinding we do. Undo this SDS, please for MLB24!
-
@novakerik yes, sets ruined DD. Haven't touched that mode since July
