@broken_toy1 I'm not talking about Ranked Seasons rewards or BR rewards or event rewards. I'm talking about cards you have to unlock by playing Showdowns and moments.
If you didn't like to have to play online to get a reward I would expect you to understand the opposite scenario.
I view moments as having to take a timeout from actually playing the game. I've got to sit there and pump up and in fastballs to the CPU or just keep taking hacks until the programming says I'm good to go. What if a guy can't play all day?
I've player 10 event games since getting this game 2 days ago. Not one person has acted crazy. I haven't witnessed one bunt attempt let alone bunt dancing. Online isn't as crazy as you make it out. My issue is that I've only gotten 1 TA 5 voucher in those 10 event games. It doesn't add up. I'm still 1 more inning away from my 2nd voucher. I don't think I'm getting credit for an inning pitched if I change pitchers because something isn't adding up.
"I'm not talking about Ranked Seasons rewards or BR rewards or event rewards. I'm talking about cards you have to unlock by playing Showdowns and moments." That's part of my point. You can earn most offline rewards by playing online. To earn online rewards you have to play online. Your complaint of playing moments for a half an hour to start a program because you don't have all day? I don't enjoy online, so I understand I'm not going to get those rewards. That doesn't mean I don't want them. If thirty minutes keeps you from wanting to play one program, and it is only one, I'm surprised you want to play this game at all.
I understand not caring for showdown. I don't like it either. However the only program you have to play showdown for was the WBC program. The only program you've had to do moment for was the Finest program. That's only if you want the 97ovr cards. You can finish the Finest program without doing the moments, it'll only take longer.
I'm glad you had a good experience with other player online while you had messaging off for all ten of those games. Your experiences are not common. I'm far from the only one that feels that way.
You got a TA5 voucher for playing events? That's not right. I have to play mini seasons to get them. You also get 1.5 times the PXP I do simply for playing online. You can also use the cards from TA5 online to finish it. Ten event games? You have to win five mini season games to get one. Use the cards correctly and you can finish TA quicker than I can. I'm not upset about that. I just don't care for the grass is always greener mentality. The person that complains that the directional hitter has an advantage over the zone hitter without even knowing if they were playing against a directional hitter. They just assume that since they lost to someone, it's because the other person had a perceived advantage. Even if that advantage never existed.
So to recap. Online play gets more EXP, PXP, offline mission credit, online only mission credit, plus TA vouchers, and online only earned rewards. Offline players get less EXP, PXP, TA vouchers only with TA mini seasons, and offline mission credit without the ability to earn online rewards making it more difficult to complete collections. I'm just curious how much greener the grass looks over here. My grass is mostly brown and full of weeds. I think you're missing the weeds
My messages are actually on right now. Didn't get one message during those 10 games. I'm a big boy tho. Online doesn't scare me.
You get credit doing anything offline. Why are you tripping about getting progress while playing events? I get 7 stubs per event game. You get more for failing a moment. Somehow my post about online woke something up terrible inside of you.

I'm not tripping. I write a lot. I'm a writer. I also talk a lot. Sometimes out of my [censored], but it usually makes sense. I do apologize, I didn't mean to sound rude. With your answer, it seems I did. My post was just an answer to your thread. Which I disagree with.
"This game has turned into a circus with all the tasks needed to do before you can actually enjoy the game." I'm not big on this year, but I do enjoy the gameplay.
"Something needs to change when the best way to play your game is to turn into a vegetable and play the CPU for 8 hours while watching something on another TV." The best way to quickly earn anything is online play. This was the primary premise I disagree with. You get more and more quickly for playing online. You still have to use the correct cards, but that's the whole thing behind DD.
"Why do I have do moments for 1 hour? Why can't I get the same credit playing online?" I'm assuming this is hyperbole. That's cool, I often use this literary devise.
"Why do I get 7 stubs for a 3 inning online game? I can fail a mission and get more stubs from the XP earned. Make this nonsense make sense." My experiences tell me this is both true and false. You get next nothing in term of stubs for playing. However, you get the same next to nothing for doing anything in this game. With moments, you might get one or two stubs per try. They add up, which is why it seems like more.
As far as disliking online play, rage quits and intentional disrespect is annoying. It's not just this game, it's all games. "You got lucky, your trash." (bad grammar is on purpose) That's a phrase, in many iterations, I've been sent in most games. Then when you get matched to someone that is a far superior player to yourself you get someone still commenting "you're trash." When you're down 10-2 they are still stealing bases or bunting. Some have been great. I think most are, but the A hats leave a bad taste in my mouth, win or lose.
I'm a big boy too. It's not worth it to me, so I don't play this game online. I play to relax. I happen to love the game of baseball. The sport and this game have helped me to get over, mostly, the death of my wife. I've also had spirited debates with people on here. About baseball, the game, and some parts of life in general. Some have a positive attitude that's really refreshing and I'll debate them as well.
You are entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to disagree with it. If I came off as disrespectful, I really am sorry.

I looked up the number of people playing online during the baseball season and in June on PSN there were ~200 per 24 hour period. Maybe they just don’t have enough people playing online?

You lost me when you said it's faster to complete tasks online. That's simply not true.

@fubar2k7 Wow. That's not much at all.

@SkunkyTrees1977
Maybe I have a little grass is always greener mentality too. I say that because you can do the same as me, but have additional online missions and get 1.5 times the PXP. Most of my PXP missions are done in conquest or vs. CPU. I can use the cards needed to complete the needed tasks at the same time. You can do that as well and have the additional bonuses listed above.
Is online more difficult? Sometimes. In conquest many of us often only get one or two runs in a game. Sometimes we'll get ten, but it probably averages to around 3-4. That's about the same as events without the added bonus of superior cards that are won online only. The win percentage is definitely higher in conquest, but that's seldom a condition of the missions. Missions are usually based on hits, runs, extra base hits, Ks, and IP. All of which are comparable to what you do in events.
I will agree that vs. CPU is the easiest way to grind for batting missions, but only offline batting missions. Pitching missions are accomplished about the same as in RS, 15-20, but you hit a lot more and a lot harder with vs. CPU. However, it's is long and tedious. I avoid it, if possible. Once again, online players earn superior cards as an added bonus. Showdown is also tedious. It also pisses me off when I've spent an hour getting to the last boss then have to start over with no credit--to anything--given. MTO is great for TA and exp, but that's it. RTTS is good for earning stubs at the beginning of the season, but little else. I believe you're overestimating what is given in offline play. Still, to me, it's preferable to do that than deal with a twelve year old that runs up the score from a trick they learned on YouTube.
If that 1977 in your name means what I think it does, we're about the same age. You probably remember playing as the Lovely Ladies (that was my team) in Baseball Stars. There was no online play. We would just play the same game, in the same stadium, with the same four or five teams. Offline play isn't that repetitive. I do find it that enjoyable though.
I really am long winded...and bored. This has been a fun discourse. Thank you.

@broken_toy1
I’m glad you’re enjoying offline mode. Everyone should play how they want. I played offline 99% time up until October and the 1% had runs ins with a lot of toxicity mostly excessive pausing so I kept away. Since October, I’ve played almost exclusively online and a ton of games. I haven’t encountered anything but good games and good sportsmanship. You might want to hop in now since most of the kids have moved in to other games. You might enjoy it, specifically RS or BR. It is a dramatic difference from earlier in the year.
-
they really impressed me as an OFFLINE players the last 3 years. Before for Offline, all you had is the USA Showdown. I hope they keep progressing with offline and adding for online players too.
-
@broken_toy1 Baseball Stars was great. Haven't thought about that game in years.
-
I completed this last program entirely online after i did the moment to unlock the players needed. Took all the unlocked players and just played the online Event. Didnt do ANY other single player stuff. Unlocked Betts before i knew it.
