Question for franchise players

What is the fun of franchise?, seems like it's tedious and boring, but that's just me .
But what's your perspective. ?
Do you play the games or do you sim them . ? -
I used to play a lot, now from time to time. I think the most fun is realistic ratings, progression, goal oriented (DD leaves you with a "now what?" kind of feel), using legit baseball strategies, 9 inning games that are geared towards winning and not statistical objectives.
Also depends on your age. If you're 30 and under, offline games is less appealing. I remember when the games started compiling stats back in the day, we went crazy!! (Tecmo SB, Baseball Star, NHL 95). Back then, offline season or couch vs or coop was all we had.
Edit to add: I play all games, except ST. I would sim seasons often (Madden, NHL or MLB) to see which young players were coded to become great, then trade for them.

Do you play the games or do you sim them . ?I’ve been playing since all this game had as franchise. For me franchise is the real season and DD is fantasy baseball. I love my team the Dodgers and also have my fantasy baseball team. That’s how the game is for me. I play all the games. I play the game all day so I have more time than everyone and play 2 or 3 franchise games then focus on playing DD.
If a new game comes out, soon to be Spider-Man 2, franchise will be tabled for Spider-Man 2 but I’ll still come and play DD. I’m not like the whiners.

I'm forty five and I think I got all the franchise offline games out of my system with the games that didn't have online play back in the 90's. Agree that DD is fantasy but the online ranked can be quite fun. I am a Dodger fan too but enjoy using the Athletics because opponents are more like to throw in the zone.

I’m sure I’ve bored enough people with my life story so I’ll condense it. I play games all day having sold my accounting business during COVID and I just hate people other than my girlfriend and my best friend and they still work. So I’m playing this game from when she leaves work until she comes home. I have a lot more time to spread around both games modes. I would get bored exclusively on one or the other same as I couldn’t just play Spider-Man 2 all day when it comes out.

Haha, I have been summoned. The only reason I have this game is for Franchise. I'm probably one of the unicorns that play Franchise from Spring Training all the way through 162 games with every pitch of every single game...no simming here. But a very important part of Franchise is to find your correct settings to make it as realistic as possible to your skill level. For me it's the highest possible setting with Legend hitting and Pitching with Maxed out pitch speeds. For me before I even consider Spring Training I spend like 20 hours playing exhibition games to begin setting up my Sliders and also with the help over at Operation Sports. I use this as a preliminary set to take into Spring Training and tweak throughout the 30 or so Spring training games. So by the time the regular season comes along I have a pretty good Slider set that has been marinating. Tiny tweaks are made throughout the season but nothing major. The game on legend hitting and Pitching with maxed out pitch speeds is tough, I need to do batting practice before every game for about 10 mins just to get my timing down, and I can't play on a TV, has to be on a monitor because of lag and stuff. So there ya have it, any more questions boys

Hardcore. I like. You’re the only person beside me I know who plays ST. I should incorporate some batting practice. Usually half of my game 1 during the day is my batting practice. I like your thinking.

Yeah I like playing Spring and mimic it like RL as close as possible, like I play the regulars half the game and the minor leaguers and kids the second half of the game. Also this is the first year I've played The Show on a PS5 and before I started Spring training I downloaded the actual Spring Training parks of each team I play in the Grapefruit league to add a little bit more immersion.

I do the same with the kids in ST hoping to boost them if I do well. I think it helps somewhat with progression if they enter the season after a good ST. I didn’t download the park but I might just do that. Smart thinking.

If you're more into Franchise stuff, head over to Operation Sports, there are more Franchise players there that go into more details with Slider Settings and Franchise setup and rosters. This site is littered with causal DD guys that care more about stubs and packs than playing baseball. Half of these guys don't realize this game has a slider setting, they are so use to arcady default settings and they feel that's normal cause they don't know any better.
