I think your just a complainer , the set isn't over yet and you're already complaining. Everyone is going to lose the set cards . So you'll be even with everyone, plus you can use ALL your cards in casual .
Changes are made in sports all the time for competitive balance.
Basketball didn't use to have the 24 second clock .
Football changes rules all the time .Probably the worst explanation or pro argument for sets ive seen. "Your just a complainer" , followed by sports change rules all the time.
Do better
Maybe I need to articulate my point gooder. My point is this guy is complaining about sets and cards expiring and I explained he is merely a complainer because he will not be at a distinct disadvantage because everyone will have their cards expire.
The rule change point is because the expiring cards are a change .
I mentioned that sports and other organizations change the rules all the time for a variety of reasons .
You're right I could've explained better. -

I absolutely despise the set thing going on this year.
If I have a card I want to use just let me use it, who cares if it's in everybody's lineup, that doesn't mean I'm better or worse.
This game was very tiring this year having to go through the grind and semi exhausting pain of trying to piece together a lineup just to play a ranked game.
I sure hope there are major changes next year in terms of sets. I hope thus was a one year mistake.Take the survey! Give them the feedback directly.

A lot of the Community, myself included, has communicated their dissatisfaction with expiring cards from the onset and the complaints have nothing to do with having, or not having, an advantage over someone in a RS game.
Expiring cards (in relation to RS H2H within the annual game cycle), has more to do with:
- Not being able to use your favorite cards (regardless of its rating) in a RS game for much of the game cycle.
- Paralleling a card is not as rewarding since they expire.
- Grinding for, or purchasing, a card is not as fulfilling since they are temporary.
- Forming Captain and theme teams are more difficult due to having to find replacements every couple of months.
- Etc.

I took the survey and do not recall anything being asked regarding sets or expiring cards. They must already have a good idea of the community's opinion on that issue, which may not matter, unfortunately.

You laid out your argument against the sets/seasons quite well and I am in agreement 100%…. We will see what they do next year, I would expect some tweaks as I doubt they scrap after year one.

They have lots of comment boxes asking about programs and season 3. That's where I put my comments. I made sure they were relevant to the question, but I made sure my opinion was stated.

Thanks, I just took the one available through this forum. Weirdly, this survey was very different than the one they emailed to me this morning.

They want people spending a ton of stubs on multiple versions of the same player, and expiring sets is a great way for them to make that happen.
The "user" in me says, "This model is terrible. I want to spend my $99 and be able to get every card in the game just like last year".
The "accountant" in me says "This model makes perfect sense".
I would love to see an SDS income statement year-over-year. I'm wondering how much additional revenue they've pulled in from moving to this model.
I just feel like I paid for a product and then was told how I will use it. I know its on me even if I didn't completely understand the parameters in the beginning. I just never thought it would play out this way. Mindless grinds for inferior cards only to exchange them for the likes of 99 Chipper, 99 Pedro, 99 Aaron, 99 Randy etc. only to see them disappear. Rinse, cycle, repeat. I feel like I've been given the finger after buying the game every year since they were 989 Sports. For some it doesn't matter but for others its like the straw and the camel.

I didn't read or listen to any pre-release info so I guess that's on me. I'd never have dreamed they do something as boneheaded as expiring cards though.
It's pretty much burned all the goodwill they'd built up in this one baffling decision. Well, that and the other obvious pushes towards more monetization.
This is very likely the last year I play.
-
Not saying this format 'hit a home run'; but at least you all have the option to play.
Due to my stroke I had during my neck surgery; I haven't been able to play since the end of Season 2 and probably won't be able to play until next year, if at all.

I sure hope there are major changes next year in terms of sets. I hope thus was a one year mistake. It's uncommon for a company to make a drastic change like this, and then reverse course due to a little negative feedback. How many people complained about moments back in 19? Moments are still around and are not going anywhere.
I'm pretty sure sets will be around in one form or another for years to come. They want people spending a ton of stubs on multiple versions of the same player, and expiring sets is a great way for them to make that happen. The best we can probably hope for is the usual "we heard the feedback from the community" speech, and for them to tweak the formula a bit.
It's all about player engagement and reoccurring purchases if people want to see change stop playing the game and buying stubs it's really that simple
100 take a stand

It's the loss of players you've spent hours trying to get. Imagine having Elly and Nolan Ryan and can't use them because Hader is taking up your one WC slot and you need an LH CP. Or Having an awesome Ohtani card you worked hard for, only for a slightly better one come out two months later for practically no work.

These are all really valid points. I spend so much time grinding for the 99 cards that I don't really get to enjoy them after I get them. This time last year, I had a couple of cards paralleled to 5, not 1 this year. Don't even think I have gotten 1 past parallel 3.
I still grind but agree buying cards with stubs is not as enjoyable since it's a 60-day rental at best.
Last point is also valid as Captains really started having some value in this series but that will diminish once Set 2 is unusable in a week.
I honestly don't hate the game this year as the thread states, but it certainly has changed the game and how I play it, and I wouldn't say for the better.

Despise the set/collection design this year. One small change that would drastically change my opinion would be making ALL collection rewards “core”. I still prefer previous years and ZERO expiring cards, however, this would ease my hatred of this year’s game. I would still rate this game well below ‘21 because there is no “power creep” so 90% of the cards they drop are just collection fodder no one uses.

This has been said before and I agree with this completely. Also, all the cards in the Extreme Program should have been Core, not just Griffey. I haven't had time to take this on much yet (I did get Marte because I did a few moments and hit the 25,000PXP), but now I don't know if it's worth the grind since most of the players I want (Piazza and Wagner specifically) are Set 3, not core.

Well said whiplash. I have 1 card to reach P5 this year and I suspect that will be it for me. I have Set 1 TA at all 100%. I have Set 2 TA also at 100%. For Set 3 TA I have the AL West and NL West at 100% and that's it. Granted the last two weeks I haven't played much due to a lumbar surgery I had but in the scheme of things, I would have already been done with TA3 before I had the surgery. I have simply lost interest to grind mindlessly for cards to do the exchange for better cards because I know they will eventually expire and my time is worth more to me than that.
