I don’t even care about the settings right now I’m just so confused on how they decide the ratings points for wins and losses. I won 40+ straight games and jumped up from 80’s to 30’s but 2 losses can drop you 40 spots in one shot is a joke and makes zero sense.
Basically you get nothing for winnings games but penalized by death for losses.
Small sample size but I think the rating jumps you are experiencing are based off the user rating and the user rating of the opponent.
Rank is directly tied to user rating. User rating determines where you start your pvp search. If you are letting that bar go bigger and bigger, the more chance you have of playing a lower rated user and losing a lot of rating/rank if you lose to them. You are high up the leaderboard so there are is limited opportunity to get a higher rated user and gain extra rank off said user. Most of your matchups are against lower rated user and the longer you let it search, the more rank you will lose depending how low ranked the other guy is.
The way to battle this is stop your search bar within a range that you are comfortable with. This guarantees that the other user will be within range to gain rank or lose the least amount as possible if you lose. The rating gain on 40 wins against lower ranked players can be cancelled out by one loss against a lower ranked player. Limit the lower ranked players you are seeing and you will not get set back as far.
This also make sense why a lower rated user using a better team is searching higher than their user rating and you lose more because of their lower rating.

They need to have option to change uniforms and eliminate same team match up. Another great feature would be playoff online rated tournament. Would be great.

And that’s the problem those atop “leaderboard” play on rookie difficulty thus I will never matchup with them to gain more points

And that would be back to why they need a universal setting for ranked.
Anyone who is playing on rookie is susceptible to being beat on rookie, no? Is playing rookie the same cheese as playing on legend because a player knows most cannot play on that setting. The online lag for this game is atrocious(not every game but some). Maybe they need some sort of latency bar as most modern games are adopting.
IDC about leaderboards but I am interested in good games. I tried to play on all star and hof but if your opponent has any kind of issues with internet it sux. I also have the patience to search within certain parameters and not have to worry about what other guys settings are. I know the games I play are a fun mix of high scoring and low scoring games(win or lose) and I am having fun. Key here is the having fun part. If at anytime a video game is not fun, then it's time to do something else.

Wouldn’t call it a huge L…I stayed inside the top 100 for literally almost the whole time from release day until this past week. I could have just stopped playing once I got into the top 30’s but I chose to continue even though I knew I wouldn’t be playing much once Madden comes out. It is what it is but at least we know how garbage the ranking system truly is now.
Also I’m 327-61 lol garbage ranking aside that’s a hell of a record regardless.

Exactly what I’m doing now, playing a few games here and there but once Madden drops in a week I’ll probably only play when I get bored of whooping people with my Eagles
