This is how their TA has been for set 1, set 2 and now set 3- 97s

Normally TA3/AS program is when we start seeing juiced cards so 99 main cards makes sense

I love that people are so optimistic when SDS has given us multiple reasons this year to temper our expectations.
They have but I still have a hard time believing they'd drop this big of a dud in what is typically one of the bigger/best content drops.
I guess we will see for sure in about 35 hours when they have their stream

I’m pretty sure all the 99s this year will be behind a paywall as we’ve seen already

It continues to be so odd to me how caught up people get on the overall rating. Whether a card is a 97 or 99 is completely meaningless to me. There are some 97s that are great and some 99s that suck and vice versa. I'm much more interested in seeing the underlying ratings than the overall and seeing how cards play once I get my hands on them.

I agree the model is pretty clear this year. But in the last few years the only 99s we were getting at this stage were collections. The program bosses were a super slow progression. And your graphic is proof. There was no TA last year, these were the feature program bosses (I realize the difference is small, it was obviously modeled after TA).
The problem is they started off with 99s and yet all we can get are 97s in programs. So I do agree with you, the packs are where the 99s are at.
But, this could either be a big turning point where they start releasing 99s in programs, or it could solidify the model they’ve established and lose some players.

I don’t get it either. It seems like people are so hung up on 99s only being in packs. Anything 96+ can be as good as some 99s especially when you parallel them.
Yeah the rewards aren’t great but if you’re really that obsessed with having 99s or the best possible lineup then sell every player you pull out of the choice packs they give out. They aren’t usually that expensive but if you sell them all, it adds up. I feel like the people complaining about not being able to afford cards aren’t selling everything they can. I haven’t spent a dime on stubs and have plenty of stubs to buy any card I want… just not every single card.

FYI, They are posting more stuff on Threads. There is a collection for TA 3 that rewards 5 99's. There are also two captain cards.

Here's where I see the issue about the complaints of the best cards being behind a paywall. In years past there were several times players were being sold for $1M in the market. Some years there were long lines and other years you could get them fairly quickly.....but you had the ability to make WAY MORE STUBS just by playing compared to now. Now you barely get squat for anything you do. Mantle is the most desired card to date and is still over $400K. Sounds like nothing compared to $1M but when you grind your mind away with these TA programs and get little to show for your time invested, there's where the gripe comes from. My opinion anyway.

They just posted a 99 Domingo Germán Topps now card. That’s a good start. The card art could’ve been a lot better though imo

So I would not be at all surprised for TA3 to mainly be flashbacks and legends with current All Stars mainly coming in choice packs starting tomorrow. Likely using the typical 97 Base/99 Rare structure we have seen all year. They have always done ASG and HRD packs and are releasing even more packs than normal this year.
