I mean there’s lots of “excuses”
Chief among them being
-
Dedicated matchmaking servers are a huge cost, this is a small studio and not a big player base, people are already mad about the rising amount of paywall cards on this game. Imagine what that will be like if they have to incur a huge expense for dedicated servers.
-
The connection issues you guys are talking about are becoming this forums crutch for losing games. It used to be “my opponent is using directional hitting” before that was “you paid for your team” now it’s “your connection is causing me to lose” in the countless hours and games I’ve put into this game online since the show 16 only one person has ever messaged me saying I won because of my connection, that was demise. You would think in that amount of game time and years it would be a problem for more people than just demise.
-
-
It’s real. I used to doubt it until I moved and my connection speed increased significantly. Now the lag and pitch speeds are worse than ever. Same monitor, same modem, same router, same Ethernet cable, faster ISP, very different experience.
And it’s not an excuse for losing. It’s actually not about wins or losses at all. It’s just not a fun experience.

I use to run multiple Battlefront servers on a home pc 20 years ago with Windows Xp. You’re overstating the cost dramatically. Disappearing balls and micro stutters in an online game that relies on fractions of a second of reaction is unacceptable.
Even the streamers are getting tired of it. There’s a reason that the game was in the top 10 on Xbox thru August last year and it’s like 36th right now.
The multiplayer continues to be ignored despite the fact they want to push the online component. It’s not a good product. If you go on Reddit or twitter a vast majority of the opinions on this forum are in the minority by a large margin. SDS has been ratio’d into the ground. People like me are getting tired of the lack of support, communication and attention to the game.
It’s been how long since a gameplay update again? Ya, that’s what I thought ,but you guys here can keep simping.

Their placement on XBox free to play list doesn’t reflect how big the studio is or how much money the studio brought in. Those users paid $0 for the game genius. If anything being 36 means less of people buying stubs to offset the $0 spent to play the game.

I had 300 losses on my RS record last year. I don't give a [censored] about losses. Sorry, your internet is so [censored] poor you don't see these issues but they are very real and make the game unbearable. Has absolutely nothing to do with losses and more about the incompetent match making system. I used to play this game every day but haven't played since Sunday and probably won't play until maybe Friday. I would rather re-watch a 20 year old TV Show than play someone on wifi in a cave.

Sony gets paid Money the game is not free and the Xbox users have made SDS a ton of money. It’s a subscription based service and the game has made more money then ever with the deal. In 21 Sony has seen an 18% decrease in gameplay time on their platform but their profits are up 13% because of the deal so that’s a 31% swing they’ve received from making the game available on other platforms.

Not entirely sure your calculations checks out (the 18% is an non-covid year increase, not a decrease), but I fully support the use of math in arguments.
Carry on.

I notice those issues too man, especially when I play against people in the DR and PR where internet is not as good as here in North America.
By the way, I say it because I play a custom league full of Dominicans and Puerto Ricans and the difference between someone here NA East region vs someone in their home country is huge in terms of latency and input delay, especially if they are on WiFi.
Same happens in Ranked, majority of the laggy games I play are against DR, PR and Midwest team names. I know name doesn’t mean anything in regards to their location but performance issues could be saying something.

The thing that concerns me is that this version of the game is what those metrics have created. Their data is probably excellent for helping them increase profit, but that does not necessarily translate to a better product. There are many issues with the game and without a doubt connections are a big one. If connections were not an issue, they would be able to conduct their own tournament without having to cancel it every weekend.

If my connection is so bad why in 7 years of playing this game online has nobody except you when I crushed you said anything about it? I also live much closer to you than someone on the coast lol
Most people can't see differences in connection speeds. Chicago?
Most people can’t see the difference in connection speeds? So guess it must not be that much of a difference if “most people can’t see the difference” crazy how in 7 years and thousands of games it’s only you that’s ever complained, in a game where I you got crushed. Sounds like a crutch.
Or maybe they're just not smart enough. I mean the average IQ in the U.S. is what mid 90's? Keep beating people up with your convenience store wifi. Would love to play a group of people like you in a LAN tournament.
